How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Kettle in room didnt work. One of the two sinks was blocked. One of the light fittings was not working

I was not too fond of the fact that the bathroom had a large TRANSPARENT window by the bathtub facing the room. You could see the entire bathroom from the room. Luckily, the lady from the front desk came over and put up a temporary curtain.
Breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed the variety and quality of all the items on the menu.

Not a thing. Truly.
The hotel is simply beautiful! The design, the decor, the stone walls, the concrete floor and counters. We felt as if we were guests at a friend’s luxurious home. But the thing that we were wowed by was the ultra comfortable bed! Never have we seen such luxuries linens! My husband and I couldn’t stop raving about the bed and the linens. Also, we couldn’t say enough about the staff: Teresa, Ariana, Bruna, Nidia - Polite, professional, VERY helpful, super pleasant, adorable! The location was fabulous - centrally located and across the street from a beautiful plaza. This was one of the best hotels we have known. Kudos to everyone and everything!

The Exmo is in a perfect location being close to the river, great restaurants and sights. The staff were particularly helpful. The breakfast was very good with a range of freshly cooked ‘egg’ options, pastries, meat, cereals, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. The hotel is opposite a taxi rank which is useful should you need a taxi.

My husband and I were in Room 3. We arrived on Friday and stayed for 3 nights. The street noise was very loud on Friday and Saturday , so much so that I was unable to sleep. I was told we would have a city view but did not expect the level of noise in the room.
The decor was modern and beautiful. The location was excellent, close to everything. The morning buffet was exceptional. The staff was friendly, accommodating and helpful. The room was cleaned to perfection every day.

Staff make us feel at home. The included breakfast was wonderful. Eggs and bacon and a buffet of wonderful items. It was a real treat! The room was extremely clean and well attended to.The beds were extremely comfortable. There were nice perks like a welcome drink, sand cookies and a handwritten note in our room when we arrived. The location was perfect. We couldn't have been happier with our choice to stay at Exmo Hotel. Each time we came back to the hotel it felt like we returned to an oasis!

Friendly and helpful staff and a great welcome to Porto. Good position near the river and restaurants. Although the hotel was on a busy street we had a quiet riverside room with river and rooftop views. Great breakfast buffet and gluten free bread and mufffins when requested. We were able to leave our luggage after check-out which made the most of our sightseeing day. The decor and furnishings in the hotel were contemporary rather than traditional.

Bathroom lighting was a bit dark for putting on make-up, but that's such a small thing!
Loved everything about this hotel! Staff was fantastic. Loved the location (central to every place we wanted to walk to), gorgeous historic building, views from our room, delicious breakfast. Bed was super comfy, room was very quiet, and the bathroom was really modern.

Lovely modern hotel in a super location with really nice staff! Would recommend for sure! Room was a really good size with plenty of space, beautiful views out the window, and a big comfy bed! Will be my first choice for hotel when returning to Porto!

More of an FYI but check-in is 4pm which was the latest of any hotel we stayed at and a bit inconvenient.
The staff were very friendly and helped us book a tasting and transport to the station. The breakfast had a good selection. Our room was well designed, spacious, bright, and comfortable. The pillows and bedding were comfortable although the mattress sunk in the middle as if it was fairly old/used. The location is perfect, right in the river edge and we walked to all the main attractions.

Room had a high ceiling but as a result it had a closed in feel with a high up window, restricting the view out. I think our room number 4 was the exception though.

The shower had a couple defects such as a missing knob and the floor was severely cracked in a few places which someone tried covering up with a rubber mat.

Nothing, everything was perfect!
This was an amazing discovery in Porto! Like a boutique hotel, with only 16 rooms, which made it more cozy. The building is a renovated ancient facility, soundproofed, you could hear nothing! They offered complementary bottles of water everyday, a welcome glass of wine & homemade cookies at your room. Emily, the receptionist was amazing and so friendly. It is also walking distance from everything, just around the corner, you have the waterfront and the marina facing the Duoro!
