Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe street where the apartment is not car accessible, so be ready to pull luggage on Lisbon's rocky road. There is no lift, so get ready for some muscle workout. Lisbon is really chilly, like San Francisco, but unfortunately, there weren't enough blankets, and we couldn't use the main AC.
The apartment was located in the center of Lisbon, making it very convenient for everything. There were plenty of local restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby. Moreover, the suite was just above a historical Fado site. Although the apartment was old, it was clean and well equipped with everything needed. The host was accommodating. Nightclubs surrounded it, but it was safe.

United StatesAs a first-time visitor to Lisbon I should have asked when the Fado bars and popular restaurants close in this Bairro Alto neighborhood. We were there just before Easter so maybe the huge, noisy crowds were all on Uni break. Very loud bass music until 4am. Good street cleaners kept the neighborhood tidy but those trucks rumble through at 5am to collect all thw glass bottles. Bring ear plugs.
Spacious & comfortable apartment with well-equipped kitchen and washing machine. Portable room heaters were good for chilly evenings. Lovely cross breeze, sunny apartment. Terrific host, quick communication. Safe neighborhood. 4th floor walkup, no elevator.

United KingdomWe were in the top floor apartment, the bedroom only has a tiny window and low ceiling, you have to walk carefully to make sure you don't hit your head. The shower is quite tiny and the dining room does not have any windows. The living room does have a huge window though we didn't spend a lot of time there. Some staircases within the apartment but I think it will be only applicable to the top floor apartment. Bed was very soft.
The host is responsive, easy check-in, close to lots of restaurants.

CanadaOnly one shared bathroom. Noise from all the entertainment in the area will keep you awake until late into the night.
Terrific location!! The restaurants/pubs were in the area... there is even a restaurant/pub besides the place. Everything was nearby.. Augusta road. We parked the car for the during of the vacation, and either walk or took the public transit to explore Lisbon. Given the pros, I completely forgot about the accommodation - I has the kitchen, and dining area. We were too exhausted by the time we're back in the rooms to clearly remember the property.

IrelandLuckily weather not too hot as windows had to be closed to block noise from the streets at night ( noise until 3am every night). Noticed air con in other apartments in building but not in our top floor apartment. Stair access only, but this was well advertised on website.
Great location, perfect for accessing the city sights and restaurants. Had everything we required for a city base. Clean and comfortable.

NetherlandsThe master bedroom doesn't have a window, only a ventillation gap towards the livingroom. It can get a bit stuffy, since we couldn't open the windows at night because of the noise.
The location is in the middle of the Barrio Alto, which is very convenient but can be a bit noisy at night. The windows are quite well isolated so we slept well. The apartment is very spacious, especially for Lisbon. Basic furnishing but still comfortable. Spacious bathroom. Well equipped kitchen.
