Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeNothing at all.
Luxury comfort after walking camino for 16days. Bed was firm & super good for the back. We had a welcome platter of fruits & egg tarts. Staff was super friendly. Breakfast was simply marvelous. Variety of spread. Location wise ... it is a good walk to the shopping district & Bihao market. To the centre and riverfront, it is a longer walk but doable if you enjoy walking.

United KingdomThe windows at the front facing rooms were very close to the Main Street. On a 1st floor room if you open your curtains you’re only just above eye level with the public and it’s quite a busy place. This meant you couldn’t really open your curtains fully. It was also quite loud at night. Not enough to put me off returning though.
Rooms were great, comfortable and clean. The shower was amazing and the staff front of house and cleaning were all very friendly.

IrelandNo complaints - looking forward to another stay
Modern and chic decor, cozy bar, but to me the highlights are the shower and the super comfortable bed: everything you need after spending the day walking around and exploring Porto. The hotel is also quite near a subway station and the staff is more than helpful!

United KingdomNot much really. It could have been nearer the city centre, but his was mitigated by the fact that it is near a metro stop that goes straightinto the centre (no changes and very cheap).
The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. They spoke excellent English. The room was great. Breakfast was very good. If I were going back to Porto, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to this hotel. One of te most satisfying hotel stays I've ever had.

NetherlandsThe breakfast was really good, the choice was great and on the last day the staff was gracious enough to make us a packed breakfast since we were checking out early. We had a lovely stay, the hotel is modern, very clean and tastefully decorated. My room was large - could even comfortably accommodate 3 on the last day and the view of the terrace was fantastic. We will definitely be back again! Staff were very friendly and always ready to give tips on good restaurants and activities.

PhilippinesIt’s a bit of a walk from the center. It’s not as central as I hoped it would be but it wasn’t that far, maybe a 15 minute walk to the shopping street.
The design of the hotel was really nice. It’s also very reasonably priced. They even gave us a welcome pasteis de Nata and some welcome port wine.

United KingdomCould be in a slightly better location but still easy to walk into the centre!
Awesome room with a wonderful breakfast! Shower was amazing and the bed was extremely comfortable. We were offered a glass of port on arrival and they even left a cake and bottle of prosecco in the room for my boyfriend's birthday!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing, it was perfect.
Absolutely everything. The reception staff were so helpful and greeted us with a glass of local Port. The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean, and housekeeping were fantastic. The breakfast was just what you needed, and the evening meals in the restaurant were also stunning. The whole place has a wonderful aesthetic and was incredible value for money.

IrelandCould have been more lights in bedroom/bathroom- hard to get ready with the dim lights. A little far out of the centre, a bit of a walk but wasn't a problem for us.
Lovely stay in Porto. Hotel was modern, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Staff were accommodating and helpful. Loved the Halloween treat dropped to our room 😊

PortugalI don't like the concept of bathroom merged to the room. It is quite uncomfortable to go the toilet while there is another person in the room, since there is just a glass door separating it from the room.
Very nice and cozy place for a good value. The staff was nice and the food at the bar was really good, as well as the breakfast. The design of the hotel is beautiful and very elegant. They were attentious with my request of a cozy room, since it was in the 5th floor, far away from the street noise.

United StatesThe lighting in the room was dim. That's the only complaint I can think of.
Excellent location - close to shopping and attractions. The hotel is at the top of a hill but, hey, that's Porto. The breakfast was delicious. Best of all was the wonderfully friendly and helpful staff.

IrelandNothing!
The hotel is situated a 10/15 walk uphill from the shops on Santa Catarina, but it is so worth it. We arrived in the evening and were offered a complimentary port (or tea) while checking in (orange juice for the morning arrivals). This was the first of the little touches that make this hotel stand out. The room was very comfortable, we couldn't hear any noise from adjoining rooms, or those above or below. Breakfast, and other meals are served on the ground floor beside reception and were all very good. And finally the staff were excellent, polite, friendly and so helpful, nothing was problem and everything done with a smile. Would love to visit Porto again and would definitely stay in the Fontinha

Australiait was fine. the location had been described as being in the downtown tourist area in my memory of it when booking. that might have been a stretch. when the area continues to gentrify, the location will come into its own.
generosity. hospitality. (an electric kettle for our room so that we could make tea, and oooooh, those lovely tarts!)
