A little bit noisy from other guests coming and going at times Location up a VERY steep hill some 20 minute walk to Avenida do Mar. Going down okay but coming up can be challenging if not fit Also, as mentioned in previous reviews, the window opens at ground level where people walk past to shared terrace and can see right into the bedroom. I used a sarong and clothes pegs to solve the problem

You can hear when someone uses the bathroom and the room has a strange smell. Also I would get rid of these decorative pillows that are placed on top of clean pillows, as we usually don't know where other guests place them.

We had a double bed room, and the bed had some softer matrace so that I rolled to my husband's part during the night. Also, we got only one (bigger) duvet and it was quite thin.

Nice, clean rooms, well equipped kitchen - we didn't need it, but I was surprised there is also an oven. Enough dishes as well. Very friendly staff... and hot water even when we returned late in the evening =)

Less of coat – hangers in the room. The time of using washing machine 14.00-17.00. it is impossible to use it when you are a tourist.

The check-in closing time was a bit of a stress point for me, as I was delayed due to unavoidable factors like flight schedule changes and car rental paperwork. I understand that these things happen, but I would have appreciated a bit more flexibility. The bathroom window that opens into the kitchen was a bit of an annoyance. The lack of a proper seal meant that any noise from the bathroom was amplified and echoed through the kitchen. This made it difficult to enjoy the space and relax. I would recommend adding some soundproofing to the kitchen. A decorative soundproofing panel or piece of furniture with vibrant colors and patterns would not only improve the acoustics but also add a touch of personality to the room. Beside that, the bedroom and the location were super cool.

I stayed for a very short time, but the location is good, the place is nice. It was clean and well equipped.

For (understandable) insurance matters, please do not take for granted the luggage storage (everywhere in Madeira). I ve asked FX Pena for the luggage keeping service and they were very kind in accepting it. As improvement, I suggest a locker service to preserve both the host and the guests :)

The staff was really welcoming and helpful. I had some issues with the luggage storage and the smartphone, they supported me in both occasions. The hostel is amazingly clean and comfortable, just 10-15 min walking to the main streets and markets. Definitely recommended, enjoy!

Nothing, I think some of the reviews are unfair on this place, it was ideal for me.

The place was so clean and staff were lovely. I just stayed one night as I had an early flight the next day and checking outt early was no problem. I used the kitchen which was great and rooms was very spacious

Nothing about the place - just that I could hear people on the corridor and in the bathroom through the door to my room - but I’m a light sleeper.

There is a vague smell due to lack of ventilation. The window had been left open on my arrival which partly improved this, but on the other hand a bunch of mosquitos had entered the room through the window. Luckily I found a fan in the closet which I had running all night, thus fighting off the mosquitos.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is good, close to the city. The room is ok. There is a shared terasse outside with parasols. Shared kitchen is fine. Good value for money.

I had a great experience at this hostel. It's conveniently located near the old town in a peaceful environment. We were warmly welcomed by Katarina, who provided us with all the necessary information. Despite the shared spaces like the kitchen and bathroom, everything was clean and well-maintained, and the towels were new and soft. 1. The coffee machine had no coffee. It's ok but better to know that BEFORE arriving. 2. In previous reviews I read about the possibility of leaving the luggage after checkout. Sad but now it's impossible even for a couple hours and our request was rejected. :(

Clean room, comfortable bed, sunny terrace. Staff was very friendly. The shared bathroom was clean and almost always empty. It could be not easy for someone to go uphill from the city center to the hotel, but we were prepared for that. :)

Check in is strictly @ 14:00. No possibility of leaving luggage before this time. The room was extremely hot with little air circulation. Was grateful for the fan.

The room was big, bed comfortable, many TV channels and ample furniture with a fan. The shared bathroom stayed very clean and a washing machine was available for use.
