Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Great value and proximity to the palace and main attractions outside of the dizziness of Lisbon.

AustraliaThere was a bath but not bath plug. But a very very minor thing.
A great sized bedroom, good amenities. The blinds are exceptional, darkest room we’ve stayed in. The staffed meet our needs and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable.

United KingdomA few things were not perfect but tolerable but i'll still mention them. The mattresses were not very comfortable, being very soft you get that sensation of rolling into the middle and wake up not feeling fully rested. Being in the middle of a neighbourhood also means no parking, it felt safe to leave it just around the corner but it's worth being aware.
Lovely staff that not only welcomed us but also gave us some nice tips of places to eat. Being 2 km from the historical city centre of Sintra at this price is an absolute find. It is actually doable to walk from the hotel to the main attractions if you're used to walking. Situated in a very quiet neighbourhood we enjoyed a nice sleep and got easy access to Sintra for a day visit.

SpainThe owners are lovely and really helpful although I can’t say the same about the cleaning ladies who were not too nice and very loud since early in the morning. But this last inconvenience is not relevant in comparison with the pros of the hotel. I still recommend it!
The hotel is in a great location to move around the area and park and very good value for its price.

GermanyI couldn't check-in before 3pm. I would have wished to do so. It is a bit far to walk to the center of Sintra.
Very big room and bathroom. They do not serve breakfast in this place, but very is a good bakery and coffeeshop around the corner. Overall I was happy.

RomaniaAlthough we wanted to have the breakfast at the hotel, it wasn't possible because they serve it only when there are enough persons in the hotel to be worth it / profitable for them. Even though there is a bus station right next to the hotel, its schedule is not that great so we rather opted for an Uber/Bolt to the city center / train station and back to save time. The towels were worn out, having a lot of pulled threads. The bath foot towel was shredded. They weren't changed during our 2 nights stay but we anticipated this since it is a 2 star hotel after all. There was only one power socket in our room so we had to recharge our electronics one by one. If you have a long enough cable for your charger, you could probably plug out the TV and use that socket as well. The furniture is old and smells a bit odd until you get used to it.
Even though it is situated a bit far from the historical centre of Sintra, this 2* hotel is situated conveniently for taking a short hike (or walk) to the main touristic attractions of the city - Pena Palace and the Castle of the Moors. There are a couple of restaurants nearby and a small supermarket. The bus station is 50 meters away, Casa do Preto (quite popular in Sintra, pretty good place to take a breakfast) is located 150 meters away. The room is decent in size and equipped with the standard item you'd expect from a 2* hotel, everything was clean, beds has clean sheets and the mattresses were comfortable enough to have a good rest after we've walked for more than 10 hours through Sintra's touristic spots.

CanadaA little disappointed that breakfast was not available onsite due to staff shortage, but nice breakfast place nearby. Location is a bit far from central Sintra, but can be walked to in about 20 minutes. Driving is feasible but parking in town is an issue.
Lovely clean and large room with a terrace and nice view. Quiet area with sufficient street parking nearby. Great breakfast place a few minutes walk, and some very nice restaurants a few minutes walk/drive away. Easy access to the main highway from Lisbon, and roads to Estoril and Cascais on the coast for day trips.

Hong KongThe hallway outside is tiled and so it is very noisy when the other guests arrive or leave, it would be better if the room corridor was carpeted to make it quieter. The room doors are too thin and so do not provide good sound proofing. There was no hot water in the morning so we had to wait an hour whilst they changed the gas bottle and restarted the heating before we could have a shower, so went out to Casa do Preto for breakfast whilst it heated up.
It was a clean and spacious room and the bed was comfortable, It was easy to park nearby and there are some good local restaurants for both dinner (Somos Um Regalo, great value Portuguese food & a lovely waitress) and also for breakfast (Casa do Preto-Scrambled eggs Portuguese style & coffee with pastries)

BrazilThere are no staff at the reception, feels like arriving at a horror movie, really smells mold everywhere from reception to the rooms. At the room had microwave but no plates or cutlery, had to go down to get things, and there was no bin.
