Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaOur room didn't have a window, so pretty bad, stuffy air in there. One bathroom/toilet for the whole floor led to quite a bit of waiting in the morning. Was ok for one night but I wouldn't want to stay longer.
Price is ok - location really good, close to the airport metro. Check-in was easy with a code, no problems there.

United KingdomThe building is old and the accommodation needs updating and replacing, but then it will be more expensive. Only one lavatory in the one bathroom meant a queue in the morning
The location was perfect, and it was cheap The accommodation was quirky, but generally clean. There were supermarkets close by

SpainThere was no staff at all, the bedrooms were not great and there was a rare smell during the whole weekend. Also it was quite noisy.
It is placed in the city center, close to the city hall.

United KingdomI'd say the only downside was the lack of a headrest for the bed - I was fine and slept well, but a bit more support there would have made it even better.
Great communication from the host and everything was ready for when I arrived. There was a towel in the room, with Porto promotional leaflets and guides, and shower gels in the bathroom. The balcony to the outside was great, and as I love the feel of being in the middle of a city, it was perfect for me. Would come back here.

AustraliaThe apartment building smelled bad, our room was overbooked so we had to move to a different room to the one we booked, most guests were loud, someone was playing music really loud before 7am on the morning we checked out and some guests were not courteous to other guests and were quite loud at all hours.
Location was the best part about the property

NetherlandsThe door felt like it could break at any moment.
It was a small cozy room at the heart of city. So travelling nearby wasn’t a problem. Everything was clean and tidy.

IrelandThe bathroom door lock on the second floor was very easily opened by anyone and didn't felt safe for a female especially. However, the property owner got it fixed so, it felt safe afterwards with a much better stronger lock. The single beds were ok and the room was spacious. Although, the bedroom door and lock seriously needs to renovate very badly.
The location was perfect since it was only about 8-10 minutes walk to the Metro station. The accommodation was very close walking distance to restaurants, shops, and sightseeing places. A very nice balcony view from one of the rooms in the second floor. The accommodation had a shared kitchen on the second floor that we stayed in. It was very clean.

United KingdomThe house has 4 floors and the upper floors appear to be for the guests. The lower floors appeared to be more residential and from here the noise, shouting and banging, with occasional dog barking was very annoying.
Large house in a good central location. Room was comfortable, but no windows so very dark. Good kitchen, however no kettle. Nice bathroom with excellent shower. Very clean.

GermanyCheck-out at 10 a.m. relatively early. The cupboard in the kitchen will make it another 10 year with the pepper caster ! So never take it away !
Centrally located. Still relatively quiet. I liked this retro style old- fashioned interior with its intensive different colours.

United KingdomThere was an odd smell in the kitchen/bathroom area but I think this was due to the drains in the area but it's not bad.
The decor and living in a Portuguese house. For the price I paid it exceeded expectations compared to some of the overpriced apartments I paid in Porto. There is so much warmth and love in this place and I would highly recommend it for a short stay.

United KingdomThere were only a few people staying on the night we stayed I think it could be difficult to use the shared toilet and shower which are in the same room if the place was full but that is only my assumption for us (3 in the group) there was no problem.

GermanyThe hippiesque style of the guest house was not my favorite but that doesn't matter at all for this price. My main problems were: the balcony towards the street meant that the room was incredibly loud. Also there was only one toilet and shower and on fully booked days it took forever to be able to use it.
Everything was very clean and I had a big room for myself with two beds. It also had a shared balcony. The host was nice and always asked if she can help me with anything. You can probably find hostels more modern and convenient and filled with young people to connect to. This was definetly not that kind of hostel. Its more just for sleeping. But for that it was totally fine :)
