How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The bed in the twin room was far not the most comfortable, the room was tiny.
Very cool vibe and program for every day so as a solo traveler you won’t get bored and will get plenty of options how to spend time and will definitely get to know people. Staff friendliness was also amazing

First time solo traveling as a 24 year old female, and my god this hostel made me feel so safe and so welcomed. It’s like a home away from home. So inclusive. So many activities to be apart of. There is a WhatsApp group, which on the day of arrival you are invited to (if you wish) and everything that is to happen/ or is happening, is placed on the chat for those to choose whether they want to be included. The hostel it’s self is a party hostel. So the music continues till around midnight, before the activities are taken to bars/ clubs. The free dinner in the evening is a great way to get involved and meet new people. Would highly recommend, loved my stay!

Nothing really, but one weird thing that didn't impact me, is that the "private room" is actually withing the same room of the usual shared room but in a upper floor. It's not reaaaally a private location. But anyway, I was in the shared room, so not a problem to me.
Great location, staff extremelly friendly and helpful and one of the best hostel in terms of socializing. they have a lot of activities that make easier to do so. Nice rooms, always clean and with good sheets. Cheap prices for drinks.

Sometimes the crowded sounds
The rooms were clean and met incredible lovely people there. They do like group activities so if you are a solo traveler. U could meet a lot of people.

Lots of young people, you get to see a lot in Porto through the group activities, the people are very cool. I will definitely come again.

Earlier family dinner, we are old and couldn't wait until 9pm haha!
The hostel had a great vibe about it, they put on a family dinner every night from 9pm and there is a group activity beforehand and then after dinner there is a bit of a party. Whilst we didn't get a chance to participate in these activities, it's such a good idea to bring people together.

If you stay here go to hungry biker cafe for breakfast! Love that the staff send you the daily activities as well as recommendations to do around porto! Stayed here a week! I had an awesome time at Hostel One Ribeira. The staff is very friendly, helpful and they make you feel like family while you are staying there. The hostel itself was clean and my room was very good. The daily activities are a good way to socialize and meet new people. I met a lot of cool people while staying at this hostel. Would definitely recommend Hostel One Ribeira for solo travelers who are looking to have a great time.

This is a party hostel, most activities are drinking games.
The staff is really nice and welcoming. The view from the balcony on the last floor is amazing. The hostel is ideally located.
