How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The hotel is advertised as 'no pets', but we were greeted by the owners dog when we arrived. Also, the room we had was quite cold.
Friendly family run hotel close to the centre of the city. Good breakfast and comfortable room.

Great location with excellent breakfast and very nice people managing hotel, made us fresh scrambled eggs and gave us name of an excellent dinner place called Douro Excellence ( amazing food )

The staff were very welcoming and the hotel was immaculate. Breakfast was comprehensive. Parking and room access for bags was great compared the option of a smaller property.

Not everyone there speaks English so it helped to Google translate things and the fact that one of us spoke some Spanish, which is somewhat similar to Portuguese.
It was a great experience at Hotel do Cerrado. The staff was extremely friendly, great amenities and they granted our request for a single bed.

Breakfast choices not very wide.
Friendly staff ,good cellar parking for motorbikes. Nice little bar .A lovely little town.

Nice family-owned hotel close to the tourism office in the center of Lamego. Very nice staff and owners. Big room with small balcony. Old-fashion interiors but very nice and clean. Walking distance to restaurants, bakeries and interesting monuments to visit.

No concerns.
Easy walk into town to explore the area, or find restaurants etc.. Has parking, which was important. The breakfast was wonderful. Never been asked how I would like my eggs and or bacon for an "included" breakfast. Much better than the typical dried up scrambled eggs you usually get. Even a pitcher of orange juice magically appears. Our room even had a balcony with plenty of room. No need to squeeze in to fit in a tiny chair. We had the feeling that the staff/team were eager to help us with anything we needed. Would stay again.

A dripping toilet faucet that broke in my hands when, late night, I tried to turn it off.
Family owned and managed hotel, located at short walking distance from the city center. The bed linen was made of an immaculately white, extremely soft and comfortable cotton. Breakfast was hearty (don't forget to try the excellent artisanal fig jam made by the owner); my gluten and lactose free needs were properly accommodated. Free parking in the basement.

I liked everything, I think the only thing I would have preferred is a modern hairdryer and bath amenities.

Breakfast could be improved. It was very basic.
Very well located in Lamego. Underground free parking which was really nice. Friendly staff. Room a bit old but comfortable.

Very dated. The rooms look like they were renovated in the nineties. No shame in that but it's a bad value proposition for the money. Breakfast was also meh. And the beds are too soft for me.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were super friendly. Spotless. Fantastic selection for breakfast. Close to centre and bus station. Lovely atmosphere.

Breakfast time was untill 10 am. However, since we were waiting a bit for a table, we could serve ourselves for a bit more also and it was not an issue!
Veeeery friendly owners. Comfortable bed. Balcony. Air conditioning. Small fridge in the room. Free parking - indoor and, if full, very nearby option. EXCELLENT BREAKFAST: fresh bread, delicious homemade jams, marmalades and cake, and more!

How welcoming all the staff were. Nothing was too much trouble. At breakfast we were very well looked after. When we returned to our room in the late afternoon it was spotless and so comfortable.
