Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomUnfortunately many of the reviews regarding the bathrooms are accurate. While functional, the bathrooms are in need of refurbishment. The shower basin was very narrow meaning you have to choose between the shower curtain touching you or splashing water all over the bathroom. The bathroom was decorated with tile that was painted over, even the toilet seat was painted. The electric sockets in the room were a concern, several unfortunately did not work. The sockets where the TV and heating unit were plugged in appeared to have a fault. When plugging in or unplugging any devices all the lights in the room would flicker. The hotel overall has a musty smell in the public areas, most likely due to the age of the building.
Great location, within 10 minutes walking to the city centre (São Bento) and within 15 minutes walking to the nearest metro station (Bolhão) which has a connection to the airport. Partial city view from the room was a bonus. The room itself was large and recently refurbished. Some reviews complain about the state of the room or about noise, however from our experience this was not the case and our stay was adequate and comfortable for a few nights. Water pressure was very good and a fan was provided in the room. The bathroom in this particular room had a separate area outside for the washbasin which was convenient for two or more people sharing. Cleaning service was very attentive and fresh towels provided daily if required. Staff were very friendly and efficient.

ItalyThe hotel in on four floors, and there is no elevator, probably because it's a very old building. And the fact that is an old building, comes with other flaws, such as sloping and creaking floor. As far as cleaning goes, the room (especially the bathroom) could have been cleaned better. Overall, its price is below the average of the city, but I still think it's slightly overpriced for what you're getting.
The hotel is located in a perfect spot to visit Porto by foot. If you're staying here, you won't need to catch any bus or taxi because everything will be reachable on foot. The lady working there is extremely kind, always smiling and available. Even if she doesn't speak English, she does her best to make you understand what she has to say. The rooms on the last floor have a small balcony with a nice view.

PortugalWe booked in advance but got a message the day before saying there was an issue and had to move us to the 4th floor in a building with no elevator. There would be a discount so did we agree? Short on time, we agreed but getting there, the was an extra (very narrow) set of stairs as the room was in the attic. The room was fine but there was NO pressurenin the shower, merely a drizzle, so we complained and were moved to a room in the 1st floor, the had vacated meanwhile. If not, we would have moved hotels as a good bed and a clean functional bathroom is the minimum.
Comfortable bed, very clean space and excellent location.

United KingdomSomeone should have explained why we were not put in twin rooms to begin with. I didn't ask to be compensated for this purely because the room that they gave us was probably the largest that they had and because the reception staff were so lovely. However it doesn't take away the fact that we had paid upfront before seeing where we were going to spend the next two nights -I would have asked for a reduction had I known.
At first we were put in a tiny attic room with a double bed-a photo of this is NOT on their website and I had booked a twin room with Booking.com. No explanation was made as to why we were put there in the first place just that we would be moved the next day. My guess is that they had double booked but this was not explained at all. We spent two nights in the attic room which was very cramped indeed before we were moved to a much bigger room with far more space. I cannot fault the reception staff, especially the young girl who was extremely helpful. Also the lady who took care care of the cleaning and changing of bed linen etc-the cleanliness of the hotel is excellent.

IrelandI recently missed my flight and found myself in need of a place to stay. After searching online, I was fortunate to secure a room at this hotel. The staff went above and beyond to assist me in every possible way, even after regular working hours. The next day, I had an early flight, and the staff kindly accommodated my needs outside of their usual schedule. Their exceptional service made a stressful situation much more manageable.

CroatiaThe place is unfortunately a dump. Extremely worn out and basically a paint job over a 40 year old bathroom and furniture, floor. Walls were disgusting with signs of heavy water leakage from upstairs.
That accommodation actually existed. Matrace was comfortable and the linen crispy clean.

ColombiaThe hotel information said they had private parking and they didn’t, huge deal breaker and we almost cancelled and went to another hotel. Luckily there were free parking spots close by. (The employees told us that the owner has been warned and has knowledge about this problem and hasn’t changed the information about not having private parking).
Good location near one of the few free parking spots in Porto. The employees were super nice and attentive.
