How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A few more towel hooks in the bathroom would be helpful.
Excellent location, very comfortable for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). Kids loved the surprise hiding spot in the apartment.

Apartment is not big, I would say suitable for 1-2 days for our family of 4, but for longer stay (we have been 5 days) it was quite small. Owner has made everything to make the space works, but you should keep in mind - it is not big. Also, I felt a lack of sunlight. It is compensated by all day walks through the city, but in the morning you have to check what time is it, can not rely on the picture in the window.
Accommodation, in the center, everything is very close. Welcoming of the host, clean apartment

There is nothing not to like. There are some steps from the kitchen to the living area/ bedrooms. If you have ambulatory issues, it might be a problem. There is some construction next door but only during the week days. Didn’t affect my stay.
Location, location, location. In the heart of the Riberia neighborhood you can literally walk out the front door and see the river. A very safe and walkable neighborhood. What makes this place stand apart, is the owner, Teresa. She answered a dozen questions prior to my arrival and met us at the apartment to show us the place and get us settled. Just above and beyond! She left me a beautiful platter of cheese, crackers, jams rather than her traditional cake because I’m gluten free and I had mentioned it. She’s warm, friendly a But not obtrusive. The apartment is SO functional, so homey, so clean and was very comfortable. Leave your blow dryer, umbrella at home- they had everything you need. There is also a small washer, which after a week of travel was a bonus! Also- there is a market close by- and on the back entrance a wonderful little family owned restaurant and a gelato shop! Loved it and wish I’d booked this place for more nights.

Teresa's property is really lovely. The apartment itself is beautifully laid out for being a small space - and we have seen a lot of small spaces. it would have been tight for myself, spouse and two college age children, but with younger children it would be manageable. I appreciate the homey elements of decor, plus putting just enough in the kitchen to give you a leg up - a little cooking oil & salt and pepper, sugar, and tea bags. As opposed to bare cupboards and having to purchase everything. The apartment is close to the river and the Sao Bento train station which means you can get to most of the touristy stuff very easily, as well as back and forth from the airport on the E line train. Nice place!

you do hear people moving in the apartment on top - if this happens after midnight it's not so nice

Liked everything.
Teresa, the owner, is a superb hostess. The best. Helpful, available, informative, friendly. The apartment is creatively and conveniently laid out. Everything is provided. The apartment was super clean and the beds comfy. It is conveniently located so it was easy to walk anywhere we wanted to go

Teresa was really nice and hospitable! She gave us great tips for the city and was very flexible with the check-in time. The apartment was in a great location, super clean and very well decorated. Hope to come back soon!

Could’ve been better insonorizad, but still fine.
Perfect location, walking proximity to most touristic places that you should definitely visit in Porto. It’s a combination of modern and legacy architecture.
