Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

CanadaStinky bathroom and noisy people in the middle of the night. The management should take care of these people and kick them out in the middle of the night.
Bathroom was stinky. People were talking in the middle of the night in the hallway. They were also dragging the suitcases on the floor which was additional source of noise between 2-3 am. Consequently the noisy environment ruined my sleep.

NigeriaCleanliness of the environment. A big dustbin is located by the elevator at the basement. It was smelly. Room with 2 beds is very narrow for easy movement. No cross ventilation, only 1 window which looks directly into the room of the adjacent building and vice versa. No guarantee that you won't inhale cigarettes even if you go for the non smoking rooms, so you have to decide between a stuffy room or secondary smoking.
The manager on duty during our stay was very good, professional and generally on point. His name is Bashir. He showed us round and ensured we had all necessary info for the night. He even helped with taxi and our luggage on the way out of the facility.

PortugalFirstly, the reception is on the 4th floor!! We were very confused when we arrived because there was no reception and nobody to ask what was going on. Then they made us stand with our bags at the entrance waiting for "his boss" to bring back the keys. Then the whole place was honestly smelling. Right from the door you could percieve different types of trashy odours. Well not surprising because you could literally see the trash bins at the corner right from the entrance. Then there's an elevator right beside the trash bins!! And the space was so narrow I'm sure a part of my clothes touched the bins as I squeezed past them to get to the elevator. The elevator had a weird stench too. The keys had to be inserted a certain way or else they wouldn't work. There was honestly a lot of things I didn't like about the place.
I like that we had separate beds and the beds were comfortable. It was also quiet and one of the workers was nice enough to let us check out a little later cos we overslept.
