Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesLike many neighborhoods in Lisbon, there is a lot of building reconstruction going on—including 2 buildings directly across from the hotel. This made for a lot of noise, although this was NOT the fault of the hotel.
Wonderful, helpful host, Antonio. Located near good restaurants and shops. Easy to walk to many of Lisbon’s major sites. Clean. Comfortable bed. Big spacious room and great shower. Self-serve breakfast was easy and convenient.

United StatesThe location couldn't have been better. You can easily walk to nearby attractions, restaurants, and shops. The public transportation are also close if you wanted to take a day trip elsewhere. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The decor added a charming touch to the ambiance. The breakfast is prepared by guests, meaning guests have everything they need to create their own breakfast. We did like this set up as there is plenty of options to choose from. Our room had an ensuite bathroom but some other rooms had a shared bathroom across from their room in the hallway. So it's advisable to check when booking. It does get noisy at nights but closing the windows helps a lot.

SwedenA slight smell in the corridor towards the rooms but nothing serious. I would have preferred not to have cooked my own breakfast but all the foods provided were lovely and the setting overlooking a courtyard was beautiful.
Great location and a very helpful and friendly owner. Beautifully decorated and a lovely breakfast.

AustraliaOnly minor draw card was there is only a fan (albeit a large one) to keep cool. We slept with the fan on and the balcony open, but just the fan would be challenging in warmer weather.
So cosy and wonderful, we loved the decor and the little balcony. The breakfast spread (make your own) was wonderful, and it was lovely to get up and make breakfast in the mornings. Everything was nice and clean, and you could tell that a lot of effort had been put into the details. Room was quiet, could not hear any street noise.

IrelandNo air-con and bathroom across the passage.
The location is definitely the outstanding point about this accommodation! The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable, but could do with a/c, and we had a separate bathroom, which was also strange for us. The city noises are something to get used to, but that was to be expected. All in all we enjoyed our stay!

BelgiumHaving an airco would have been a good thing. We ended up there at the most hot period of August, and a well working big fan in the room wasn’t helping at all. Overall, nothing major, all was great.
This property is so well located, clean and tidy. The owner is nice and polite. Every morning, he tried to be there and we could say ‘good morning’ to each other. He never bothered us with questions or other. The breakfast was very good and healthy. The location is top! You are in the middle of Chiado, and most of your guides can pick you up and drop you off at the property when needed.

We loved the host Antonio and the fresh breakfast he provided every morning. The housekeeping staff were very pleasant and the rooms were very clean and airy. Loved staying there. Loved the location and easy access to metro and other tourist destinations. We felt safe and will definitely go back to Lisbon and to chiado house! Highly recommend it to anyone.

FinlandThe apartment offers wifi throughout most of the old building, though there was a slight limitation in reaching the farthest corner of the room. However, this was only a minor issue and did not significantly impact my overall experience.
What a wonderful and tranquil place located right in the heart of the city! As soon as you enter the living area, you are greeted with the pleasant sound of classical music softly playing in the background. The room with the ensuite bathroom is spacious and consists of two separate rooms. The windows open up to a charming pedestrian street surrounded by lush greenery. The breakfast is served in a delightful kitchen with a balcony that overlooks a sunny courtyard. There are also plenty of plant-based options available. Throughout my stay, I felt a sense of privacy in the apartment, and the only interaction with other guests was during breakfast time. Antonio, the owner, does an exceptional job of maintaining the historical property and adorning it with beautiful flowers and antique furniture and art. Furthermore, the location is perfect, conveniently close to the Baixa-Chiado metro station. Without a doubt, this has become my favourite place to stay in Lisbon, and I am already looking forward to returning.

SwitzerlandGiven that it is the city center, and the rooms are right above the street, a little noise is to be expected.

LatviaThe location is perfect; you are in the very center, but it was a bit noisy on the street during the night, probably because it was a weekend.
The house is gorgeous; it feels as if you came to visit an old friend, not stay in a hotel. The room is clean and bright, and the style is amazing. I loved the books in the library on yoga, respiration, meditation, as well as works by Eckhart Tolle and Gibran Khalil. 🤍 The breakfast zone is absolutely amazing; you can make your breakfast yourself, which is ideal for me. The people there are very nice.
