Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe waiter didn’t even know how to recommend wine or even have a wine suggestion with the type of food we ordered. For a hotel that has wine in the name I thought this was not okay… the hotel rooms had coffee for one day only… for a five star hotel they should replenish the coffee and tea everyday! The breakfast on the website looked a lot better than what was served. It was good but not 5 star worthy.
The property had a beautiful view of the vineyards and the hilltops but I wouldn’t say this was a 5 star hotel by any means. The staff were always super nice which made it nice!

AustriaSadly there aren't enough staff members to fill busy hours at breakfast. We had to wait daily at least 10 minutes to get a table. Staff is friendly but also very unorganised. E.g. tables were free but not clean, instead of cleaning 1 table at a time, staff would try to clear several tables at the same time. You could feel a tension in between the staff members. This is very sad as the ladies tried their best to be very helpful. Turkish bath was sadly out of order at the time. Pool area is very cold - the pool water should at least get preheated to a better level. Lady at the spa reception had to work in a jacket as it was very cold. Also she cared more about her phone than the guests. Restaurant would be a great addition, but the food is not worth the high price. Last thing tk mention is that the light cannot be turned on near the bathroom in room 101. You have to walk around to the entry to turn the lights on. Sadly far away from 5 star service. Could be a hidden gem within a beautiful valley. Management should check lack of service in different areas.
Spacious, cozy rooms and attentive staff at the reception. We even got an upgrade for free which was very lovely! Area is wonderful if you want to escape the city.

PortugalWe had various issues with the food. We ordered sushi for 40euro with the description of each item on the menu list… and they gave us only sashimi because they were out of nori sheets to make the other sushi… we had to complain about the lack of food the lack of acknowledgedment of not having the items so we could have chosen something different to eat. We were famished at the end and paid the same amount as if we ate the dishes … we were outraged
It was our second time in the property and the location is wonderful and we love that the pool and sauna is open 24 hours now

NetherlandsThe hotel recently (April 2023) changed management and it’s terribly managed now. I guess most positive ratings are from before that time. The dinner was absolutely terrible. Very low-cost Tasca food but for 16-30€ per meal. The breakfast was not great either. The pastries were at least a day old. For lunch, we went to a cafe up at the road for a Tosta Mista because we didn’t trust the hotel’s kitchen. The Spa is unremarkable and doesn’t look inviting. The hotel plays the Top 50 Pop Hits at breakfast and at the pool through loudspeakers to “energize the guests”. The pool is a small piece of grass between a street and a parking lot. We came here for a much needed relaxation but left after one night. We ask for a refund but the hotel denied it. Outside the hotel’s control, but still important: We were awoken on Saturday at 7am with massive explosion going off followed by drummer groups and more “gunshot” explosions all day. Also the hotel is next to the N2, so you’ll hear motorcycles all day long while lying at the pool.
The staff were friendly and understanding.

Hong KongThe hotel operation seems to be running out of money. For example, they have no stock at all on draft beers and almost no stock of bottled beers. The restaurant dinner choice is very limited and the 'wine experience' is extremely basic. The hotel needs to offer decent menu options and organise the wine. Although the hotel and facilities are great, it's impossible to enjoy a stay with such a poor kitchen. The hotel seems very short of staff. In addition there was a power cut, my wife and kids were stuck in the elevator for ~15 minutes
Great location, beautiful views, modern hotel with great design and finishing details. Pool, indoor and out, great, with salt water, no chlorine.

United StatesThe outdoor pool is not headed - still fantastic to sit around and enjoy the view, but pretty cold.
The view is breathtaking - make sure to book the room with the view if you want to enjoy this from your bedroom - 1/2 of the rooms don't have a view. The staff was the best I've had in Portugal. Friendly, helpful, polite, dedicated, and good English. The stay was very pleasant. The indoor pool is headed to 32C and is wonderful for evening swims and SPA facilities were open 24 hours.

PortugalUnfortunately I had not requested a room with a view and without that view you will not feel like you are in Douro. Luckily we were able to upgrade to a room with a mountain view.
Ask for a room with a mountain view. Lovely pools (indoor and outdoor). Very good breakfast selection.

NetherlandsThe price of food in the hotel is relatively expensive compared to prices charged by restaurants in the neighbouring village.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming. In addition, the view from the hotel over the valley is astonishing. I did not have the opportunity to check out the gym, but it seemed to have everything for a good workout. In addition, the indoor pool is nice and the saunas clean. Perfect for when it's not sunny. The outdoor area is great too and so is the breakfast.

NetherlandsIf you don’t come by car, it is difficult do entertain yourself, as it is quite in the middle of nowhere. Perfect for a night, but longer would be a bit boring. However if you have a car, you can explore the region!
Beautiful room with amazing view, super friendly staff. The breakfast was one of the best we ever had. We went here for my birthday, the staff gave us a nice surprise by sending cake and sparkling wine to our room. The restaurant also has nice options with great food.

PortugalRoom small. No washroom privacy whatsoever. Staff extremely busy especially at breakfast, almost pulling the plates and cutlery while you're still eating. Hotel was busy but you need enough resources to be able to reply to the demand.. That or short the amount of guests. Overall not a pleasurable experience for a 5 star hotel
