How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room was small.
Nice hotel close to city center and sights. Modern, clean room with a comfortable double bed. Although located close to bars on the noisy street, the room was silent. Breakfast was very good, variety of food, fruit, drinks.

Nothing really, except there was construction on the outside the time we were there and our driver couldn’t stop us at the door step, we had to walk about 50m with our suitcases.
Absolutely loved the location of the property, just a 10minute walk to Sao Bento and along the way you get to see shops, cafes everything. We had the Deluxe suite and it was spacious we could open three large suitcases and still had plenty of room to walk around. Room was clean, and had everything we needed. The staff were the most friendly and helpful as well. The free breakfast was amazing with the freshly baked pastries and such a good start to our day!

Our room was on the ground floor, by the lift and super noisy on the first night and at breakfast time

It is on a noisy street, but with the air conditioning and after a long day of walking, never woken up by the noise!

Very quiet location but within walking distance of many of sights we were interested in. Nice impression when you enter the hotel. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. The room was very modern and the coffee / snacks area in the basement was a welcoming touch.

The rooms were smaller than I expected - ideal for a single traveller but very tight for a couple with suit cases.

Proximity to clubs and bars that open late and stay open until early hours. Rooms and bathrooms are very dark and sometimes it is difficult to see.
Good choice for breakfast but could be a bit chaotic as it gets busy. Great location for city hotel but downside is that it is very close to very busy clubs and bars that are very noisy and opened until very late.

It was a little noisy and it was a shame the rooftop bar wasn't open, although appreciate it wasn't high season when we went.

The room was very dark even with all the lights on. It was not the quietest. Our room was quite close to the elevator and stairwell, and we could hear people walking around and talking outside.
The location was excellent - so close to most of the major tourist attractions and transport links. The room was spacious, and the bed comfortable enough.
