Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThe person that checked us in doesn’t hear the bell when you arrive as the bell is so quiet. The only way we got in is as someone let us in as they left. Once in we were able to knock on the door and the man came.
It was okay.. very basic and not great but did the job if you’re not fussy.

I got bitten by a bed bug and have plenty of bites(around 30) and itching. they painted the room shortly and didn’t take care to isolate the wardrobe, blinds and other items, it was full of dry paint. also the bed sheets were dirty and stained

United KingdomQuite noisy. All the floors are tiled and you can hear everything in the building echoing. Also slightly difficult to find, it wasn't quite what I expected but maybe fine for a cheap guesthouse. Not what you want if you're going for character, but hard to find a cheaper place where you don't share a room.
Good location for transport. Relaxed and not too busy. Checking out was easy and they did let me switch rooms to somewhere slightly quieter (not opposite the showers and kitchen).

PortugalDescribing room 101, next to the reception desk - Outlets ripped out of the wall with dangling wires. Only one outlet was working, the other had the wires ripped off - Reception next to the room, a loud bell is very audible, zero noise isolation. You will hear the sound of keys in the lock and even whisper outside. - mold in the shower room - weak wifi signal - broken blinds on the windows - No signage on the street. Just be guided by door #76. - Third floor with no elevator, steep steps. Who will go up with heavy suitcases, you should think twice.
- location - one of the lowest prices for private rooms (low price for low quality. If you need more comfort, pay at least two times more) - friendly and polite receptionist - equipped kitchen

PortugalThe "Check in" was the worst experience I have ever had at any accommodation. The person who opened the door to "greet" us was very unprofessional and did not seem to understand how to do the "check-in". He looked at my passport and asked "what it is" (his words, not mine) so I told him it is a UK passport, he looked confused and asked if I was Irish. All he needed to do was write down the passport number and write United Kingdom but he could not fill out the simple "Check-in" book. Then he picked up my wifes passport (she holds a Fiji passport) he then wasted another 5 minutes on her check-in. We were pre-booked and had even stated what time we would arrive, so he should have been ready. The Cresent Rooms REALLY needs another person for this job, he will not help their business!!

PolandIt was very hot, during the hot temperatures you can barely breathe there. It is written that the hostel offers the luggage room but when we wanted to use it, the man told us we have to pay 10 euro.

SlovakiaThe facility answers online in a long period, time to time someone looks Booking chat, there was no response on calling or SMS obtain invoice from the accomodation in spite the staff told me to contact the owner by the phone. Please, try to be more communicative online.
The staff was living in the accomodation, no problem to get inside the the flat, however, it was not typical reception. The room was clean, the bathroom was nearby the room in a good condition.
