Miguel at the front desk was amazing. He went above and beyond! My friend and I wanted to order pizza and he called *multiple* restaurants trying to help us. When there were no delivery options he even offered to drive us into town. He also helped call my friend a pharmacy, drove us there and went into the pharmacy to help translate. The property itself is a very short walk from the city center/main bridge and is exactly like the pictures. It's so clean, there is laundry on site and beautifully decorated. Free breakfast in the morning was plentiful.

Be aware that there are shared bathrooms—men’s on first floor, women’s on second. This can be a challenge if you get up in the night. This property is located in close proximity to a bar. If you need a quiet place to sleep, this could be a problem. Music was loud until late in the night and then the conversations continued until after 2 am. We were staying there for the Camino and are early risers, so not the best circumstances for us.

Bathrooms were clean but small and quite basic. About 10 mins walk from the old town. But for the price I paid these are small issues and this hostal was my best value stay in Portugal

the bathrooms do not match the rest of the hostel, but were clean! the doors to the room close very loudly, was worried I might disturb ofher guests.

The location was very nice and the staff was excellent. The facility looked very clean and the bedding looked the same. The only reason for the score is I felt so safe I didn't use my sleep sack big mistake I got a rash of bed bug bites that got infected. I think it might have been the person before me but it proved to be a problem. I want to reiterate that everything looked very clean. I believe it was on the top bedding because I didn't sleep under cover.

Room window looked out into bus station so couldn't really leave it open. Toilets were very squashed and shower etc only ok. Felt very isolated walking home in the night.... Nothing else really around.

Staff were so nice. Such a sound young man checking me in, and great Craic. My room was lovely and clean and comfortable.

Everything! It is non-soundproofed property, located well outside the historic centre / points of interest, and is sandwiched between a main road, the main bus terminal and a car repair and tyre shop. The minute I saw the building, I knew I’d made a mistake booking my stay here. The online photos certainly left out reality! I was unaware before I booked (because no info was openly published) that most of the rooms had been rented out for 2 months to a group of construction workers (all men). And so I walked into an environment that felt unsafe and uncomfortable. The men were extremely lousy, disruptive, and disrespectful. Night times were the most traumatic. Some groups would begin cooking at 10pm, talking loudly, slamming doors and what not into the early hours of the morning. Sometimes they were drunk and even more disruptive. It was impossible to relax, get quality sleep, or enjoy making or eating a meal. As one of only 2 female guests in the entire building, sharing spaces with men who weren’t regular guests, the energy dynamics were totally off. These men also used the bathroom and toilets designated for women; they also attempted entering the ladies bathroom several times even when it was obviously in use. Luckily, I locked the main door behind me every time. If not for the two empathetic, honest, and responsive front of house staff who did all they could to contain the situation while they made sure I was rightly compensated while I cut my stay short, things may have taken an even more terrible turn. Unfortunately, the owner of the property who I also reported the situation to was only talk and no action. Why would he have integrity and do the right thing by one person when there was profit to made from the many? Such reckless and dishonest behaviour that puts people’s lives and well-being at real risk of harm, (people who pay to have an experience that you claim to provide but don’t), needs urgent redress.

Nothing. However I must honour (and thank once more) the two front of house staff who were exceptional at managing what was a very difficult and traumatic experience.

I had a terrible experience in the toilet. the door had some problem. I got locked up for a while and unable to unlock it at late night. similar case with my room’s door too. just be careful with the door
