Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech Republic-No daily room cleaning (1 per three days is not acceptable for 5 stars hotel). We stayed for 6 nights and there was only 1 cleaning. Rubbish bins overflowing, towels damp (as it was chilly in the villa, towels did not dry completely). -Very expensive kids club 12.5 euro per hour 1 kid. I paid 100 euro for 2 kids just for their spending time during 2 hours 2 days at club. I never met such condition. - very expensive restaurant with unpalatable food and small selection.

United KingdomDogs barking and the car alarms going off early morning each and every morning. Extra £5 per person to use the indoor heated pool. The roads were in shocking state of repair. The front of the property was really ugly parking/landscaping. It was stated that the villas had been updated/refurbished. We stayed in one of these in 2017. No changes at all.

United KingdomTerrible service from the front of house staff, especially at reception. A real “no can do” attitude from some staff. Generally the waiters in the restaurants were trying their best and being helpful. But at busy times like breakfast, it felt understaffed. Waiting 25 mins for a boiled egg, then fried eggs would arrive. Really terrible food . Really poor quality, unhealthy options for children. Scarcely saw a vegetable. Food all very low quality. We stayed in a villa. We were told the villa only got cleaned once every three days. For a villa near sandy beaches, and with children staying, for the cost of the villa this felt really poor.

FranceI cam a year ago when it was owned by martinhal and it was way better, it's a family hotel and it feels like they no longer want kids in the hotel, swimming pool close a 5pm for kids and they charge 5€ per person per day... (kids pay) restaurant don't have kids menu, they charged me 16€ for a (not really good) pmodoro pasta kids size (adult price) and at the restaurant, my 20€ burger wasnt good, fully industrial and has a taste of fish.. they didn't well clean the tools in the kitchen I believe..
it's clean, nice bedrooms, kids club

PortugalThere are no adult only chill out zones for when your kids are in kids club, a lounge or relaxation room for adults would be nice to just read the paper, have a coffee, do some work without the noise of the other kids who aren't in kids club. The private jacuzzi in couples massage room was not working for any of the four days we were there making me feel that there was no intention to repair it. I had two massages during our stay and the first was excellent, the second wasn't good. The indoor and external pool areas relatively small for the capacity of the resort and we stayed in off peak season. The service was not 5 star, a number of easy to accommodate requests were answered no as it was inconvenient - for example: we asked what type of pizzas were available when we were seated in the main bar, a long list of pizzas were offered and then only when we ordered we were told they actually only do 3 of those pizzas from this bar and the others were in the pool restaurant. I feel that 5 star service would have just resolved this issue by sending someone to either collect the pizza or the toppings from the other kitchen without letting us know there was an issue.
Kids facilities: playground, cinema room, kids club all very nice.

South Africa1. With the exception of certain individuals, the general service culture did not shine through. For example, in their online check-in process, we stipulated an early check-in at 12pm to accommodate our infant’s midday nap. Having concluded the check-in process we did not receive any further comms from the hotel, leaving us to assume that there were no issues with our requested check-in time. On arriving, the receptionist challenged us initially, telling us that they don’t guarantee early check-ins. All this in the midst of managing a clearly frustrated infant, crying loudly in the lobby. They eventually found a solution for us, but we could have avoided the initial friction - it set a terrible tone. There was also no one at the entrance to welcome us or help with our bags. 2. Wi-Fi. The wifi experience was patchy and slow, especially in the rooms. The hotel’s excuse was that they were experiencing general problems with their wifi. One wants to be forgiving but in reality guests have a reasonable expectation that these kinds of issues don’t occur during their stay, especially at a 5 star hotel. 3. Air-Con. We struggled to get to get the aircon to work in our room. The staff were helpful, but the solution involved a technician coming to our room at 22:30 with a ladder. Again, we could see that the individuals were trying to be helpful, but these kinds of things just shouldn’t happen as a so called five star resort. 4. The gym. While the equipment was acceptable, the gym and spa area in general were a little sad. Aircon didn’t work in the gym, there was no Sanitiser or cleaning materials. There was never a receptionist at the spa area and the gym was poorly maintained - lots of sweat marks all over the floor; questionable sanitation, etc. 5. General lack of attention to detail. This is a little more abstract, but we just felt that there was a lack of the small things that make for a truly memorable five star experience.
1. The grounds within the estate are well designed and beautifully maintained. 2. The rooms are generously sized and comfortable. 3. The entire resort is clearly geared towards children, from the baby-proofing designs to the children’s facilities. (It’s hard to imagine why anyone would stay here if they weren’t bringing their kids.) 4. The gym and pool facilities are adequate, while not being exceptional.

United KingdomThe property is tired, and very much not a 5 star hotel. The food is distinctly average yet overly expensive. Communication in relation to activities/restaurant opening/check out was very poor.

PortugalService was horrible, we had to wait forever to get drinks and food. The hotel was full and on top of that they also have day-use and host birthday parties, and they're clearly understaffed for that. Not a lot of options on the menu either, and the dinner buffet is super expensive at 18 euros per child above 3 (!?) and 32 per adult. Housekeeping didn't replenish the minibar even once in 4 days.
Lots of things for the kids to do, comfortable rooms

United Kingdom1. Restricted menus in the restaurant - small set menu in the terrace which was very expensive for adults. There was really only one other place to eat at night and the menu was mostly for children. We were told the lounge bar was not serving food. We ate out in Cascais every night. 2. There was a corporate conference taking place during our stay with a large number of corporate guests staying in the hotel thus restricting the number of families staying in this family resort. We were prepared to pay extra for a family resort but we were disappointed to find very few families staying. 3. Our room faced the golf course and we were woken every morning at 7am by the lawn mower. 4. Our balcony was dirty and looked onto discarded rubbish from workmen. Despite telling the Manager face to face and via the mid stay survey they sent us AND showing photos at reception nothing was ever done about this. see photo. 5. This was not a five star experience. So many missing details that we would expect from a five star property. We left earlier than planned. The hotel refunded us for the nights we didn’t stay.
1. the breakfast buffet was extensive and two of the waiting staff were great! 2. comfortable beds 3. location - short Uber to Cascais for lunches and dinners 4. Pool area and availability of the kids club and playground.
