How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nice rooms , super confortable beds, nice promenáde leads you straight to the marina and city center. You can use all the facilities of the main hotel nerby, which is great. Special thanks to Iolanda, our receptionist, for neinvestuje very kind and attentive.

Loved the view from our room! stunning location and easy to get around from our hotel. Access to Pestana Casino Park Hotel was fantastic. Spa and breakfast was lovely and the hospitality of the staff was 10/10! Highly recommend staying here when visiting Funchal. Great value for money!

Wi fi poor at times
Great location easy walking distance of centre. Clean tidy and well equipped. Great ocean view from balcony and great shower.You can use casino hotel facilities which had excellent breakfast, infinity pool and sunset bar.

Beautiful facilities with lovely staff. It was great getting to use the pools at the main hotel next door. Some lovely restaurants and bars close by and it’s also only a short walk to the main centre. Loved it!

It would be good to have slippers for use in the hotel room. And hair dryer was not powerful enough, so it took some time to get the hair done (it looks also pretty old and used much, so needs an update)
The location is perfect for exploring Funchal. Not far from the city center and the ocean, however, the weather was not good for swimming, so I am not sure if that beach is suitable enough for that. The hotel is near the bus stop, so it's easy to get there. The room is not so big, but for one person it was perfect. I think it will work for a couple as well. The view from the room is amazing. Also, there was an option to use swimming pools, sauna, and hammam in the hotel building nearby, which belongs to the same hotel group. The team is very friendly and helpful.

They are stingy with the toilet paper and the trash bags, which seems strange for a 4 star hotel. Just use trash bags for the bins! Also I saw a few ants in the kitchen area. Parking is neither free nor guaranteed so we had to park at the casino for 9 euros per day, but unfortunately I don't think free parking is common in central Funchal.
Nice hotel room, with good facilities, in a good location with many stores and restaurants closeby. The staff is friendly and helpful and the views from the room quite lovely. The bathroom is also well equipped. We enjoyed the sun on the balcony. We also loved the view from the rooftop of the sister hotel (Pestana Casino park), where we had access to the pool. We didn't swim, as it was 20 degrees, but the view was lovely, especially before sunset.

Great hotel. All staff has been super nice and available. We had access to Casino Studio Hotel for the SPA and GYM. Overall we have had a great experience and we will come back soon in Madeira. Many thanks!

The location was central to everything, with great bus routes. It was great to be able to use all the facilities of Casino Park Hotel.

The hotel is part of a group with another big building near. In total for both they offered 5 parking places. We had to find parking places in the neighborhood.

The only thing I’d say could be better is the comfort of the mattress. It was on the firm side. It wasn’t terrible but not great either. Holiday Inn or Premier Inn have got better and more comfortable mattresses and cost 2-3 times less per night.
Colourful, vibrant rooms. Facilities are good. Our flight was delayed, we only arrived after midnight and were able to check at the neighbouring Pestana Casino hotel. Customer service is excellent. Iolanda (the receptionist) was lovely to deal with. Whilst house keeping gave us a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was at the 5* Pestana Park & Casino, which was a great bonus. View was wonderful. I’d recommend the place and would stay there again.

Kitchenette very poorly equipped. I have never stayed in any studio so poorly equipped - not even a corkscrew or wine glasses. No knife or chopping board for cutting bread or salad. Nothing to use with the pans provided to make a simple egg breakfast or salad lunch. We had to buy paper cups when we had 2 friends round for a drink !!!!! Not worthy of a 4 star in this respect.
Excellent location although a bit of noise gets through during the night. Very clean. Compact but good storage. Very good that we could access the nearby linked hotel amenities.
