Very nice hotel. Breakfast was very good and a great value. The hotel is close to many restaurants and shops. Happy hour every day with 1/2 price drinks. Lobby is very nice.

The rooms were clean and a great size, the breakfast was fantastic and plenty to choose from and the hotel staff from reception through to restaurant staff and cleaning team were all so friendly.

The buffet supper was not great. Disappointing for 32 Euros each.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Excellent breakfast. The one buffet diner we had was not so great. Excellent situation right on the promenade but away from the hustle of the centre of town. Nice room and very clean. It was kept clean throughout our stay. The staff were lovely.

The location is excellent, the rooms are first class but please be cautious about the definition of "garden view" rooms. Many have a view of the adjoining park and some very unpleasant activities happen in that area. The breakfast is mainly "continental" and could do with a bit of British influence given the number of uK visitors.

Breakfast was self service but was beautifully presented with good food and great variety. Staff brought coffee and cleared away used dishes very efficiently without intrusion. Very enjoyable. Flowers in communal foyer/reception area were beautiful. Reception staff were friendly and attentive

The shower for the pool was cold water only, would have been nice if it could have been even room temperature. It was shocking after a swim. The heater in our room was subpar, we were very cold and could not get the heat to go on. We did get extra blankets, so it was ok. The only issue with the breakfast buffet was the juice was very watery, and the coffee was weak, we drank tea the remaining days. Our room was equipped with burner to heat up tea, but the tea pot didn't whistle, so I forgot I was making tea. Should use whistling tea pots, they are safer. The burner controls were hot, so it was hard to turn them off.

We loved the way we had ability to choose where to sit for breakfast. The entertainment in the bar was great in the evenings. The location can't be beat. We loved being able to see cats from our terrace, although a grounds keeper had a hawk, and the next day we didn't see any cats. That was sad. The pool was incredible. The breakfast buffet was great with a lot of choices.

The only issue was that on one day the buffet ran out of pastries, everything else was perfect.

Range and quality of food available was very good. The facilities were excellent and even though the hotel was fully booked there was a lot of space available and there were no queues for anything. Really lovely break and ability to rest and relax. Would definitely return to Porto Bay Santra Maria.

For dinner on site, I thought there was only a choice between a fulsome buffet and a truly basic bar menu. I guess most of the guests would go out to dinner anyway (as the hotel is right in old town). I finally realized that there was yet another menu in the main dining room (with the buffet) where one could order à-la-carte. Maybe advertising that fact more fully would be a good idea--but all may have been my own lack of focus when I arrived.

As at all the PortoBay hotels I have stayed in on both sides of the Atlantic, the amenities were first-rate. The bed was great and the sheets of great quality. The room was spacious and had a nice balcony overlooking a park. It´s also an added perk to join the PortoBay "Prestige Club" in that you get 10% off on anything you consume while at the hotel. I will continue to seek out PortoBay wherever I travel.
