at this price it was possible to make other reservations in the area, but convinced us 5 stars. we got probably the smallest room in part of the courtyard. stay for longer than two nights would not come into play. tight. going to the spa in bathrobes we were an attraction because you have to go through the square where there are sculptures and there is an art gallery. we were awkward. swimming pool and saunas on plus, but not enough sun loungers for cancer large hotel. And the sound of the filters, the noise in the pool.

Perfect location, beautiful design, art around. Very comfortable big room with nice sitting area, tasty breakfast with the marina view. If you live outside the main building, you need to walk for breakfast and swimming pool. Be aware of possible steep stairs to rooms outside the main building.

Everything at this true 5 star was marvelous. Simao at the front desk reception area is a tremendous asset to this hotel. He was concerned and attentive performing his duties. A very polite and professional employee.

The service at the Taberna Praça restaurant. Stood around to be shown to a table. No one reacted or showed interest. Then sat down on my own accord but non one came to serve me so I left.

This hotel is literally within the fortress walls. It was in a perfect location for us, close to town but also close to the park and a beautiful walk up the coast. It was generally very quiet with the sound buffered by the fortress walls. We loved the breakfast buffet, filling up every day so we had no need for lunch. I appreciated that we were shown the short cut to the marina, exiting through the wall in the lower level. The swimming pool was lovely

It was so humid in the room that the towels were not drying. The double room also didn't have a bath tube as we expected.

Service in The Chapter bar could have been better and a couple of days we didn't have our bathroom fully cleaned.

Nothing…..

Location, location, location….. in the middle of town but the fort provided relaxing privacy likened to royalty within their castle walls. Such an experience staying in such an historical building! The breakfast was outstanding and the staff…….. everyone we met and we stayed for 5 nights……. were just so super helpful. Outdoor and indoor pools amazing and the views across the town or the Marina and out to sea from one of the many outdoor seating areas was spectacular. Excellent holiday.

The fire alarm kept being triggered when taking a shower, but reception acted quickly and turned it off (on multiple occasions). There is not free car park (I think around 20 euros/day).

The room was fine and comfortable. The staff was nice, and the breakfast was good. I even got a small surprise on my birthday during breakfast.
