The bathroom is partly open to the other rooms so that there is no acoustic privacy at all. The dishwasher was broken and there was a bit of a rotten smell in the kitchen.

The property offers a big terrace with stunning views, a big swimming pool and a garden full of fruits and fresh herbs. For two people the house is pretty spacious with a country-style interior. Privacy was perfect all the time. Rosi the housekeeper was very kind and helpful and left us homemade apple-honey jam. Overall the condition of the house and the property was fine so the price-performance ratio was excellent.

There was nothing not to like

Everything was perfect. The cottage was even better than the pictures. The location is beautiful and very peaceful. Although you do need a car to really appreciate the area, there is a regular bus service that stops close to the cottage and we used this for our visit to Coimbra. We loved the private pool and made use of it every day and the outside space is huge with lots of comfortable furniture and spectacular views. The homemade jam and fruits from the garden were a bonus which we also really appreciated. I would recommend the Gardner's cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in a beautiful part of Portugal.

If only we could have stayed longer as we got so relaxed and felt so at home in the house. We really didn't want it to end. Maybe some games to spend the time would be useful. Can't find any faults with the place.

The house and gardens were unique and exceptional, better than a home away from home. There were plenty of rooms to space out or spaces to come together. There was so much to explore and so many different aspects to discover. There were several beautiful eating areas, under the Grapevine, on the Colonial veranda and in the spacious kitchen. The gardens were huge and full of interest, from the banana trees to the pots of succulents and palm trees. It was so tastefully decorated with unique pieces of furniture and fascinating items from all over the world, a museum of antiquities. All in all a labyrinth of gorgeousness, full of ambience and grandeur. There were interesting and enchanting artefacts around every corner and everyday was a new discovery. There were so many delightful seating areas in which to relax and a place of calm and peacefulness all around. We especially loved the Balcony and views. Rose made us feel so welcome and treated us like one of the family and nothing was too much for her. We thank her and Brendan for the wonderful use of your Home. It was a total delight and feast for our senses.

    Astonishing surroundings, horrible bathroom

I was totally surprised because when reserving in Booking, you are not informed that you're not staying in the big house (apparently for groups) but in a small cottage. The house was super cold, and the bathroom ruined my overall experience. It's partially open (no privacy); the shower head is fixed on the wall, unreachable, no bidet, and you can't throw toilet paper onto the vase. One cleaning per week is also a bit absurd. The gardens were also a bit messy. I had the feeling that the place was quite abandoned.

The surroundings were astonishing, and I loved the house decoration. I loved that Brendan let me stay late hours on the last day.

Michelle and Brandon were excellent hosts, it was a pleasure to meet them and their family at their paradise. We had a wonderful relaxing week thanks to the peace and gardens all around the place. We went with our 6 month old baby and it was fascinating to witness him watching everything around and enjoying the same way as we did. We must return.
