Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is reached by a winding, narrow road and sited in the middle of a vast vineyard. The views of the River Duoro and valley are beautiful. The rooms are clean and extremely comfortable. Matthew was very hospitable and helpful. He cooked an amazing meal which was delicious, using vegetables from the garden. Thank you Matthew.

United StatesNothing! It was all perfect.
Wow! Exceeded expectations! The location and the accommodations were perfect. The view of the Douro Valley was the best comprehensive view. We were served a private charcuterie and wine tasting on the balcony after sitting by the eternity pool to relax after the long drive up. So worth it! The rooms are beautiful and our host Luís was the best.

United StatesLuis and Mathias were so kind and helpful. The entire staff was exceptional. The property is absolutely gorgeous. It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed. The breakfast was amazing. We also ordered dinner one night and a charcuterie board the other night which were also delicious and very helpful to have as an option. Their port and wines are exceptional! I hope to go back. Loved it!

The property and the staff are amazing, Matheus the manager was outstanding. He contacted us before arrival to let us know that there was no restaurant at the property but they could prepare something. And he prepared a soup and a cheese table. He was very nice. The breakfast was superb. The house itself is very comfortable. The location is outstanding. We will be back for sure!

United KingdomWe were not too keen to eat in the evening food prepared and transported from 30 mins away in Ervedosa do Douro except one evening when we had soup and salad - portions were minscule.Fruit choice at breakfast was at times not very interesting - white melon and pineapple and caloric - the latter hardly local product .When they did provide raspberries and blueberries they were few and far between but breakfast otherwise excellent. The road to the property is hair-raising and a little scary particularly at night as in parts three is little passing room and you need to back to make way for oncoming vehicles so avoid traveling at night. If you do want the evening menu check in advance that you like the main dish. as there is no choice.other options are to have late lunch in many surrounding restaurants.
Four roomed quinta in stunning location overlooking vineyards and unspoilt upper reaches River Douro viewed from room as well as infinity pool - I would not look elsewhere if this is your priority as was the case with us and any limitations need to be looked at in perspective The room was comfortable and stylish with quality mattress and bed linen. Due to its isolation you need to understand for a small property staff are limited and numbers resourceful and there are restriction on food available understandably

CanadaThe road in to the vineyard/Quinta was a bit harrowing to drive. But no issues with it. Made it feel even more intimate. I suggest eating dinner and tastings on site, rather than elsewhere and then driving back in the evening after dark. That may not have been as easy! Otherwise, nothing I would suggest that we didn’t like.
Friendly, intimate, bent over backwards to ensure we had everything we needed. Thanks so much Matheus. Beautiful setting. Fireplaces in common rooms. Our rooms themselves were comfortable, spacious and the ensuite bathrooms were big and beautifully tiled. Outstanding. They arranged for us to have dinner onsite ( no onsite restaurant but we were able to preorder and prepared at another vineyard and brought to us) - service of that meal was outstanding and wine pairing with the meal - amazing! Matheus even gave us an impromptu tour of the winery area even though we had not precooked. Too cold to use pool but it looked amazing. The Churchill wines were amazing, we enjoyed thoroughly and the ability to try different wines while we say in front of the fire was delightful. ( for a small fee of course ). Breakfast included the next am was buffet style and good options.

PortugalNot much to say, except maybe the pool access path could be improved.
Quinta da Gricha is a large home with plenty of spaces for guests but with only 4 bedrooms. Our family took up 2 of those! Our hosts, Mateus and Luis were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. Their level of hospitality is something we have not experienced at many 5 star hotels. Breakfast was excellent, as was the dinner brought in by a local partner restaurant.

United StatesNOTHING! It was absolutely amazing! KUDOS Luis and the CHURCHILL WINES!
I am not sure where to begin. It was absolutely the highlight of our road trip, and we wish we had booked two nights! The pool, the view, the hiking, the dogs, the wine tour, Luis and his hospitality, dinner planned, and breakfast.... amazing! I would recommend twofold for any trip you want: romantic, getaway, honeymoon, anything! And do NOT let the road scare you! It was no problem, and people expect drivers on the other end, so we came across NO problems at all, up or down!

FinlandLocated high up on the hillside with stunning views over the surrounding vineyards and the river Douro. Though the drive might be slightly stressful, the stay is absolute relaxation. Extremely peaceful and quiet with only 4 rooms. Tasty wine of the winery can be enjoyed in a special tasting or by glass as you please.

United StatesWe weren't sure what it meant that the hotel had a partnership with a local restaurant and because both of us wanted to have wine with dinner, we wouldn't have been able to drive there (the restaurant is off-site). However, staff were able to order dinner from the restaurant and do a wine pairing for us, which we loved. The room was a bit smaller than I had anticipated and the beds weren't as comfortable as I had hoped (but still fine).
The location is stunning and the staff were wonderful. We also loved the tour explaining their wine producing process. The pool was also great. It was a very relaxing and beautiful experience.

United StatesNobody likes the road to the winery but that is part of the adventure. Be patient, considerate and keep an eagle eye on where to pull off to let incoming cars and trucks pass by. Be aware of ditches along the side. Drive slowly. Do not plan to drive back and forth at night. The smaller the car the better. We drove an 8 passenger Mercedes van so our drive was more exciting than most.
Breathtaking views, amazing pool area with 3 levels of garden nestled into stone walls where we gathered to enjoy a leisurely swim, wonderful wine and good friends. We learned a lot about how port is made, how grapes are grown and why some ports are sweeter than others. Louis our host and mentor, was a charming, efficient and very knowledgeable. Finally, the meals were the best I have had in Portugal after over 3 weeks of dinners.
