Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing. It was as perfect a place to stay as I've experienced, and I've had plenty!
I don't usually rate hotels and lodgings, I expect them to be good and don't feel they need my two cents to promote them. Quinta da Soneca exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. The property was beautiful and spotlessless. It had amazing views a stupendous pool area and wonderful comfort all around. It was comfortable in the bedroom, by the pool and by the general areas of living room and dining area. Theresa and Nuno were exceptional hosts. They fell over themselves offering us wine and yummy treats every day we were there. I joked with them that I was unaware they were running an "all inclusive resort". They were insulted if I brought my own bottle of wine!. And, they spent time chatting with us and that made us feel welcome and helped us learn about Portuguese culture and daily life. And, the best part: their dogs Djambe a senior Ridgeback, mellow as could be; Cjulwinga a young Weimaraner who was sweet and engaging and Bisca a mini daschsaund who was cuddly and adorable were the highlight of our stay (and believe me there were many highlights). Finally, I would be remiss to ignore Gil, the donkey who came running when you went to say hello and rub her head. Too sweet, it made my day. I could go on and on. Just know if you pick the place you will be doing yourself a favor. There are many small interesting and fun village within 15-25 minutes driving. It means you can mix a bit of exploring with a bit of relaxing in one day. Do not let this opportunity pass you by. I went here with a friend (we each had a separate room) and both thought it was the best place ever.

GermanyI wish I could have stayed longer.
This place is a little peaceful paradise in Alentejo with extraordinary hosts. Everything was perfect. The relaxing and beautiful landscape, the morning breakfast, the wine by the pool admiring the sunset. I will definitely comeback again.

MaltaLocation provided both relaxation with beautiful views and was also a short walk away from exploring the town with restaurants available there. The staff was amazing and went out of their way to make sure our stay was fun and comfortable.

PortugalNothing.
The room was comfortable and impeccably clean, the bed was perfect with great linens and a nice feather pillow (other options were available, though). Breakfast was delicious, with warm homemade croissants, a freshly baked cake and delicious Alentejo bread everyday, along with fresh squeezed orange juice, a variety of delicious local cheeses, smoked meats and homemade jams. The place was paradise and exactly what I needed: a place to rest, read, be in touch with nature and a gorgeous sunset reflecting on the infinity pool. As a bonus, I got to take long walks around with their friendly dogs. However and like most places, it is the people that made it outstanding. The hosts Teresa and Nuno make you feel at home from the very first moment and their warmth and friendliness will make you never want to leave. It doesn't get any better than this so I can't wait to go back!

BelgiumWhen you love to stay in the nature of Alentejo, this is the place to be. We also thank the hugh hospitality of Theresa and Nuno, who make that we felt at home. There are places in your life, you never forget, and this is one of them. We loved every moment we were at Quinta da Soneca.

Netherlands- I would have liked a table or a desk in my room. Now, if I wanted to use my laptop, I had to sit in the breakfast room. It made me feel like I was imposing on the hosts. - Electric sockets in odd places, to charge my various devices and batteries. - An extremely uncomfortable lounge chair in my room and where should the second person sit? - As there is no bar or restaurant on the premises, I would have appreciated coffee and tea making facilities in my room and perhaps a fridge to keep some milk and snacks. - Luckily I was allowed to park my car by the entrance, because I really wouldn't have liked the long slog to the official parking spots, especially if you are lugging stuff or in the dark.
- The hosts were absolutely wonderful and very caring. I can't thank them enough for how well they treated me. - Location is beautiful between cork oaks and olive trees. Very peaceful. - The room was lovely with private patio. - Nice bathroom with walk in shower. - Wonderful breakfast - Very comfortable beds. Slept like a log.
