Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Our host, Filipe, was very kind and took time to tell us about the local area and Madeira. There was a book with maps and tips as well. He also left a large loaf of fresh baked bread and some eggs from the chickens who roamed the farm. To top it all off, he was able to arrange for our laundry to be done the last full day we were there, even though it was a national holiday! Here is a link to an article my wife wrote about our time here: https://open.substack.com/pub/loriroach/p/island-fever-at-the-worlds-best-island?r=2ec0er&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

It was wonderful. The place was clean, we had a everything we nedeed for 7 days. The yard is so beautiful. The house has a history and it is a objectiv by itself. You will not regret if you choose to stay here. We had private space and time for relax. It is a parking lot for yourself. It is a perfect place for 2 couples. Filipe, the owner, is ready with all the information that you need. It is a supermarket at 500 m. and a traditional restaurant.

United Kingdom- it was a perfect stay for us, just be aware that it's useful to have a hire car when staying here, plus the property lies at an altitude of 700 metres. So it the temperature at the coast is 21 degrees, it's probably only 17 at the house
- very well-kept mature garden location, quiet (apart from the roosters sometimes) and tranquil - the property is in excellent condition and well-equipped - gives you a real feel of the more peaceful side of Madeira

United StatesEverything was perfect.
Everything exceeded our expectations. The photos simply cannot capture the timeless charm or quality of detail of the cottage or the magnificence of the entire property. The place was spotlessly clean and fresh. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, kitchen facilities generous and water pressure/heat excellent. Check-in and entry via rental car was easy and the owner, Filipe, made us feel very welcome. The location was the ultimate "close yet far away" lodging experience we crave.

SloveniaAmazing house, beautiful interior and all the amenities you need. Surrounded with lovely garden and a lot of privacy. A little piece of heaven for sure and it definitely exceed our expectations upon arrival. Filipe is a great host, communication was easy, he even prepared a booklet with useful information about restaurants, places, etc. + his homemade bread and marmalade are delicious! We highly recommend it to anyone who's visiting Madeira!

HungaryThe cleanliness could be improved slightly. It was ok, and I have to admit that I have high standards regarding it :)
The wonderful garden. It was really amazing. The house was well equiped as well, we liket hte kitchen very much. It was easy to reach with car but the bus stop is also very close. There are some shopping options and restaurants close to the house (pharmacy, supermarket, bakery). The owner is helpful and kind. And the welcome present was very nice.

United KingdomWe would have liked a small oven rather than 2 microwaves.
The cottage is located in the large & colourful gardens of the Quinta where the Friendly & helpful owner & his wife live. The location is very peaceful, full of birdsong & free range hens!! Yet only a 20 minute bus journey into Funchal, the bus stop being 5 mins walk away. The local supermarket, 3 restaurants & excellent bakery/coffee shop are 10 minutes walk away. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable 2 week stay. The daily cleaner was friendly & efficient & we particularly liked the laundry service which included ironing!!

United KingdomAll good at the property. However.... The road outside has no footpath and is dangerous, especially at night.( Take a torch). The property is in a semi rural area where neighbours ( residential and businesses) have untethered guard dogs making direct access on foot to the nearest bar behind the property impossible without being mauled or worse.
Accommodation in incredible landscaped mature gardens. Wonderful to wake up in such a fantastic place. Private and not overlooked. Respectful, polite and friendly hosts. Well equipped, comfortably furnished property. Toasty hot log burner, which was essential on chilly late November nights.

Romaniain some hidden spots it must be insisted with the cleaning. But it was a minor issue.
The villa provided was in an excellent condition, having all the amenities needed. The all property at Quinta das Faias is a destination in itself, being an exotic park. The owner, Mr Filipe de Vasconselos, was very helpful and flexible.
