I could say wifi but it actually was good not to have an excellent and fast internet. It made us focus on ourselves and on the view.

Great hosts, nice, friendly and very helpful in giving advice on the surroundings, activities, restaurants, etc. Very nice breakfast served at the table, not a traditional buffet. A breathtaking view.

Nothing. We were unlucky with the weather, and I am sorry we didn’t stay longer.

Cidalia and her son were outstanding, warm hosts, and showed real care towards me and my friend. It didn’t feel like we’re staying in a hotel, as much as going to visit close family. They went above and beyond to meet our requests, and have a wealth of knowledge about the region, history and gave us very detailed and practical recommendations. The views from the room were gorgeous, overlooking the river and rolling hills of vineyards. In the morning, we were treated to an amazing breakfast- the son represented Portugal in competition for young chefs. It’s a feast for senses.

Staying here was the highlight of our trip to Portugal! Breathtaking views wherever you looked! The host, Cedalia, is warm, friendly and provided great suggestions to enjoy and experience the area. Her son, Deri, exhibited his culinary skills with amazing breakfasts that were delicious, flavourful and nicely presented! The room was welcoming with attention to detail with a super comfortable bed. We wished we stayed longer in this special paradise! Highly recommend!!!!!

The only thing that could have been better is that the shower in one of the deluxe rooms is very small, so it can be a bit challenging for bigger people to use. The showers in the standard rooms were nice and big though!

The stay was even nicer than we could have expected. The view was incredible, the rooms comfortable, and the food impeccable. The host was incredibly kind and gave us good recommendations for things to do in the area. Would recommend this place to anyone I know!

Lovely place unfortunately had bad weather but would love to come back with the sunshine. Very warm welcome from Cidalia and her son who is simply a very good Chef as well. We had a great dinner cooked for us and enjoyed their tapas the following day. The room with spa bath is big and have a wonderful view. We would have liked to enjoy the private terrasse overlooking the river but rain didn’t allow it! I can only highly recommend this place it’s a great choice but you’ll need to drive to dine out or best choice is to choose their tapas!

There is really nothing we would have liked differently.

Quinta de Santa Marinha is an exceptional experience: the unique and marvelous location overlooking the Douro valley, an outstanding architecture with a lot of sentiment to the environment and, most importantly, the hosts make you feel very very welcome, give you plenty of background and recommendations (if you wish to receive). We were lucky to enjoy breakfast and dinner prepared by the decorated young Chef.

Luggage had to be taken down the stairs, but it's one floor, so it's really not that bad.

Location, spectacular view, refreshing pool with a 270 degree view, excellent welcome and service, spacious, clean and comfortable rooms with access to the pool, adjacent parking, good breakfasts on a balcony with an amazing view, lots of peace and quiet. Excellent choice.

This was a great find for our stay in the Douro Valley.. it's a little farther to get to, great for a home base.to explore, or just relax at the quinta. It is a very peraonable place, where you get to chat with your host and staff, and the other guests. We enjoyed meeting new people from all over in thdcozy li ing/dining room. The bost is more than happy to give recommendations. The ones we went to were very good! The views are GORGEOUS.

Directions for arrival by car were lacking. You continue with the dirt path several minutes down the vineyards to get to the property.

Well… the wasps are a bit annoying and it would be even more perfect if they have a restaurant. But these do not change the amazing stay! So do not miss it if you are visiting Douro!

It was a perfect stay! Cidalia, her son and all the staff are great hosts! Their kindness made you feel home. The breakfast is made with things from the garden and it is delicious. And the view…. The view is just breathtaking! Can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely loved our stay here. A friend and I booked this as a place to enjoy the Duoro valley, and enjoy we did - the views are absolutely spectacular, the bed was comfortable (and again, with bonus incredible views each morning and night), bathroom was well equipped and very nice, and we had everything we could have asked for during our stay. My friend and I caught a taxi from the train station and it cost roughly 30 euros to get to the Quinta, which was more than reasonable; I could see it being easier to have a car given the more remote location of where you're staying, but our host very generously assisted us with calling a taxi when we needed to get back to into town to leave! Other than that, we booked tours that picked us up at our location, so there were no problems there. We got in late the first night and were able to walk to the closeby small town for dinner (about a 30 minute walk), which was much appreciated. There is also house wine you can buy for an evening of relaxing and enjoying the spectacular views! This trip exceeded our expectations in every way.
