Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing, we had a great stay!
The views of the Douro Valley from The Vine House could not be beat- They were breathtaking! The property itself was cute and stylish, and has a great infinity pool! We stayed in a room with a terrace, also with an excellent view. The room was adequately sized, clean, and the bed was comfortable. I would recommend adding on the continental breakfast... it was quite standard but good, and other breakfast dining options in the area were limited, so we were happy to have done this. We rented a car and did not have any issues navigating to the property. It is a one-lane dirt road for part of the drive up the hill, but we did not find it challenging or scary as other reviewers have commented and have found that this is quite common for most of the properties in the area.

United StatesWe loved the location of the property right on the Douro River. What a fabulous view! The restaurant was terrific. The breakfasts were wonderful and varied and the dinner there was delicious as well. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the wine tasting and tour, too. The room was well appointed and had a great balcony - really enjoyed it!

CanadaDinner at the restaurant was bland, overpriced & service was slow & not attentive. Breakfast included but lack of staff, no coffee as machine was malfunctioning but reasonable choices. If restaurant improved better ratings would come
Room was ready before official check in time, complimentary Tour & tasting at the Quinta, new modern vibe to decor, lovely terrace off our room, incredible views of the Douro, 15 min to Pinhão, large room & very quiet

SloveniaThe river view was limited from the room and also there were air conditions bellow the window.
We loved everything but we always first start with people. There were two guys at reception desk, both extremely kind, helping us with all the information we needed. The room was very comfortable, the best beds on our whole trip, it was like sleeping on the cloud:). Explanation about the winery and wine tasting comes as a bonus. Here too, the guy was kind and super professional. Breakfast very good, served with a smile of ladies who were around all the time. The place where thex care about guest. At the end the red hair lady asked us with a big smile if we enjoyed our stay. Yes, we did, very much, thank you!

United Arab EmiratesEggs were very bland.
The location was sublime. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the kitchen staff did not speak English so well, but the breakfast had plenty on offer but the coffee from the machine was not hot. Options for alternative milk options was on the breakfast bar but no option to have it hot. Cooked eggs are on offer. It is very plain. Pastries are good, variety of breads, meats, cheese and fruit.

South AfricaThere is no complementary water in the rooms. Maybe the breakfast could add a warm section, but that is if I really have to think of something. Other than that everything was really good.
Wonderful hotel, with restaurant and wine cellar. Beautiful views from our room and almost all areas of the property. Staff were very friendly. Hotel is clean, warm, comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty but a warm option would have been nice, but really not the end of the world as everything was super fresh and tasted great. Very tranquil space and perfect place to stay if you want to get away for a while. Also close to other wine farms and restaurants. We had a private wine cellar tour, the tour leader was well spoken in English, had a lot of knowledge and gave the experience of staying at Quinta de São Luiz a nice touch.

Everything was perfect! The room was immaculate with a huge deck overlooking the Douro river which was a great place to just sit and take in the beautiful view. Breakfast was outstanding and offered a varied assortment of dishes including fresh fruit and fresh squeezed orange juice. A vineyard tour with complimentary Port wine tasting is offered which gives a lot of history about the area.

CanadaPerhaps a bit of a drive if you wanted to go offsite for dinner but the location is good, between Regua and Pinhao.
Room was large and well laid out with lots of storage space and a coffee/tea making station. Our room had a large terrace overlooking the valley and river; it was so peaceful sitting there. Continental breakfast was good as was the included winery tour and port tasting. Rainy and chilly so we didn't use main terrace or pool.

AustraliaThe restaurant: the dinner is very disappointed, it is overpriced. The codfish rice is too salty, the beef steak is very hard to eat, lots of fat. I hope that the management team can listen the customer feedback and restructure the chef.
The hotel is very beautiful, staff are very friendly and wine tour is very interesting and knowledgeable.
