Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe experience was spoiled by a rather unpleasant receptionist, who seemed to want to make life difficult rather than easy. When she asked what time I was checking out, I said 10.30, but when I was about to go for a coffee at 10am, she practically insisted I pack my bag and check out then….despite me showing her the booking specified mid day check out. Similarly when I asked to leave my bag there till 3pm, she insisted I get back by 2pm! I dug my heels in, and she relented but said 3pm was a max time. Quite unnecessarily unpleasant!
Generally a good place - small but clean and comfortable. Location a little far out, but close to metro stop.

PortugalIn 2023 there's no WiFi(at least inside the room). Yop.. that's right. I mean there's a WiFi .. but works like for one minute or so... and when it works doesn't load any pages. Back in the 90s I guess. The room is kind of old (old building)... and for some reason it feels uncomfortable. The toilet/shower are odd.. but work. I paid more than 70€ for one night.. and that was not good. No soap no shampoo, one towel, no WiFi. There are better options (more expensive) but you get better served.
I liked the location. central and you can reach everything within a 5-10mn walk. This place is good for one night only and if you don't plan to stay much time in the room, and for that is more than enough. Good that it has 24h desk open - it's a big plus for me - and the lady keeps the keys.. for some can be odd.. for me it's perfect. The room was kind of old but has everything.

United KingdomThe smoke smell was horrific. Found it hard to breathe at times. My clothes smelt of smoke after 2 nights there. Having to hand in the key every time you leave is quite annoying.

France- WIFI didn't work at all but maybe that was my phone the problem so i won't be of bad faith - The fact that we couldn't keep the keys to enter the hotel/my room (had to ring the bell every single time) - Toilets weren't clean, i had to clean the toilet seat myself - The bed blankets were not that clean either, found hairs on it and didn't smell like there were washed lately... - I was charged more for the staying fees but it is ok, i wasn't going to argue for 2 euros...(she gave me 2 euros back but wasn't still the right amount) I felt bad for the lady at the reception because she seemed to do EVERYTHING on her own!! cleaning, welcoming people, opening the door etc etc... so even tho it wasn't PERFECT, i had a nice time and slept well!
-The location was amazing next to a main subway station even tho my room was on the side of a noisy street. - The bed was comfy - TV if needed even tho i don't usually watch it - the hotel was very quiet on the inside, the lady apparently was very careful that people won't disturb the others! So i had great nights :)

PortugalThe place in general smells like cigarette. The bathroom smells sewage. The walls and doors are too thin, so you can hear a lot of noise coming from outside the room. The place also is located in a busy area, so you may hear a lot of noise coming from the street if you don't shut the window.
It's a nice place to one night sleep. Nothing fancy, just the essential. Very local, so you might get a vibe about what's like to live in Porto. It's very nice located. Easy to go anywhere from there.

SpainWe've been given an apartment instead of the room we booked so it is very good, also with a nice balcony, BUT..... The apartment is really old, and also not cleaned properly, they change towels every two days but they provide just one towel per person and with stains! As we had assigned a whole apartment we also had two more beds, but which we couldn't use anyway cause otherwise would have been extra coast. The plugs in the apartment were very old and some of them were burnt so we didn't feel very comfortable using it, and the worst thing was the heating, those February days have been very cold and there were two electric stoves also really old which were not warm up at all...at least we were provided with some blankets indeed so in the bed we didn't feel cold but in the apartment in general it was freezing. Also the windows were old and not isolated so you could hear all the cars whizz in the street and every noise from outside...and of course it was even colder inside because of this
The location was very good. 20mins walking from the centre and a metro station 2 mins away, also bus stations nearby, which we never used as we enjoyed the walk. The landlady is very nice, always in the reception at anytime and ready to help for all you need

NetherlandsYou have to turn in the keys of your room whenever you leave the location. It's odd but that just means everyone is checked when coming onto the location, which I like. To come back onto the location you just have to ring a bell, 24/7 service so no problem!
Great experience for the money you pay! Great place for cheap and easy travelers, like myself. Friendly hostess.

IcelandThis place makes you leave the key in the lobby when you go outside. Then when you come back, you have to buzz the doorbell. The only woman working there, than has to walk down the stairs, and open the door manually for you. I feelt a little guilty each time I left the room and came back. Specialy if you come back late after hours and she was probably asleep.

United StatesRoom is only comfy for 1 person, although it has a double bed. Not so much space to put a big suitcase. I travelled with 1 backpack and 1 carry-on and it was fine. Small bathroom. Shower good size with modern shower head. Separate behind bathroom. Small window. Small safe. Room was fine for me for 9 days.
Location was great. Metro stop in front of house door. Walking distance to downtown about 10-15 min. Also acceptable, even if partly steep road. Clean and safe! 100%. Lovely host. She opens the door to her renters, no matter what time. It cannot get safer than that. Towel change every 2 days. Quiet at night.

SlovakiaThe room was very small, fortunately I stayed there alone. It is not suitable for a couple, maybe for a short stay, because there was just one stool and the wardrobe was really small . It was a business trip and I need to work, but the table was very small. The worst thing for me was a strong cigarette smell on the corridor, after few days all my clothes were smelly. However, it was a non smoking place, I suppose that the owner was a smoker and maybe also the guests went to smoke outside, just below my window.
The hotel is close to the metro station and in a walking distance to the city center (15-20 min). The lady at the reception was very kind and friendly, she give us a small bottle of wine her family produced. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
