Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainSmelly bathroom due to plumbing, not from lack of cleaning. Disabled toilet which is not suitable for normal use. Hotel door always locked to come in which gives you the impression that it's a bad neighborhood. The door bell is very annoying as it wakes you up at all hours and for some reason the staff also like to shout at each other early every morning. Not value for money.
Near underground station, easy street (paid) parking.

SpainThe wifi was terrible in the room. We missed some chairs in our room. Finally, something noisy (the noise of other guests can be understood but the bell at all hours was quite disturbing).
The room was spacious, comfortable enough and pleasant but quite simple, the bathroom was great and well-equipped. The cleaning was good in all the facilities. Good location, a walking distance from the old town and several cafes, bakeries, restaurants and a supermarket around. The staff were friendly and helpful.

SpainThough they say parking is available, what they mean is parking is possible on the street outside. Possible is not the same as available. In the end, we had to park at a nearby parking garage which incurring additional costs on our trip. The challenge of navigating the narrow Rua Visconde do Setubal and securing parking was not enjoyable. Beyond that, the doors are a bit thin so it's quite common to hear staff or other guests walking by your room. It's not a big deal, but we weren't particularly thrilled about it either.
The staff were helpful and very friendly. The beds were comfortable enough and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The rooms were clean and the linens and towels replaced regularly, so no complaints there. All in all the room was simple but quite pleasant. The location is also very handy. It's easy to get around just by walking from the hotel. We had a good time walking around the neighborhood and there are several great caffes, bakeries, bars and restaurants around.

HungaryThe building next door might be a club / disco of some sort, and the music is so loud (even up until 7 am !!!! ) that it's unbearable, and it is impossible to sleep. With a bit of exaggeration, you can even hear people dancing and shouting. At 6:17am we decided to check out, because we couldn't sleep a bit. I could hear the pumping of the music even with earplugs. Unbearable. Absolutely dreadful. We literally became sleep deprived during the weekend we spent there. At this point, they should start thinking about soundproofing the rooms. Our room had a really bad musty odor, a stale smell to it. I guess they are fighting mold or mildew, because the air was really humid in the room, and in the bathroom the plaster was coming off. This alone wouldn't be a problem, but with the loud music, we, unfortunately, had a really bad experience here.
The only positive thing here was the staff. They are really nice people, very helpful and kind. But unfortunately, they can't do anything about the street, that area, and the neighbors in general. For the price, it would actually be an okay hotel, even aside from the mold and humidity, but when you can't sleep at all, it loses it's one and only function.

the room we had was an annexe. was single storey with enclosed balcony, like a garden room. The staff were ever so friendly and explained Porto and where to go. Nothing was to much trouble. two minutes walk to Metro (Marques) and took you to centre historico. All in all, an excellent choice of hotel for cleanliness and customer service.

NetherlandsA lot of things I didn't like... There was terrible smell of smoke, our hair, clothes everything was smelling of smoke. We had a very bad time trying to sleep because of the smoke. The wardrobe was almost broken and smelled bad. The wifi was terrible, took us 2 days to connect. There was no extra blanket for when it was too cold. We had to leave 2 days ago and had to cancel our vacation. The bed was so soft that our back were hurting in the morning.
The location was great for the hotel. The room was cozy

LatviaWe had very bad sound isolation, we could hear everyone going past our room, the room was dirty, all white walls was with black fingerprints and we had a lot of spiders on walls. We did not have anything in our room not even glasses, tea, spoons etc., but we could use it in the kitchen.
The stuff was nice and welcoming, we had opportunity to use kitchen supplements even when they are not in our room, they had kettle and microwave etc.
