How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Everything was great! The hotel is lovely and conveniently located. The breakfast was exceptional. The entire staff was very helpful and accommodating. I can’t say enough about this hotel. I would highly recommend!

Our superior double room was on a bit smaller side. Since we stayed only one night and we were out and about most of the time, it wasn't an issue.
The staff was very responsive about our inquiries before our trip and gave us excellent advice. Every staff was very friendly and helpful. We were welcomed with a glass of Porto wine which was nice. The location of the hotel is excellent because most of the well visited tourist spots are within our walking distance. The breakfast included variety of fresh fruits and restocked frequently. Cold food such as ham, cheese, salami, yogurt and hot food such as scrambled egg, beacon, were available. Different types of bread and sweats were also served as a buffet style. The room had a good soundproof.

Lighting in bathroom could be better - but that was common everywhere we stayed in PT.
This was our favourite hotel in 2 weeks of travel in Portugal. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and engaging. Breakfast was delicious. We will stay at this boutique hotel again and would highly recommend to others.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. For a small hotel there was a lot of variety at breakfast, including pastries, some cooked items, bread, cheese, meats, veg, fruit, yoghurts. Some items also changed each day so it didn’t get boring.

There was nothing negative.
The hotel was very well situated for exploring this interesting city and despite being close to the busy river front was very quiet. All the staff were excellent, very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room facilities were of a very high standard. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. There are many restaurants close by.

Lack of outdoor light in rooms
Friendly staff. Large rooms with comfortable beds. Location was great near the river. Very quiet on ancient street one block from River. Luanna was fantastic with her help. The port wine as we waited for our checkin to be completed was very nice.

The staff are the friendliest and the most helpful and caring. They gave us loads of information on Porto and made us feel at home. The location is perfect as you are in the heart of Ribeira. The hotel is spotless, the rooms spacious…. I would always go back and recommend it to anyone travelling to Porto.

Breakfast was average. I grabbed a coffee and a pastry plus a piece of fruit on exit. Location is close to the river. Great for walking and accessible to some fabulous restaurants. Room size was perfect for a 2 night stay.

I liked it all!
Excellent location - steps away from major landmarks, the river, and excellent restaurants - give Ora Viva a try. It’s top-notch. the rooms are good-sized & the bathrooms are huge by European standards. The bed is comfortable, the windows block sound, and the air conditioning works beautifully. best of all s the staff who was friendly and helpful to a person. we particularly appreciated Louanne(?) who provided us with helpful tips and recommendations by who was, best of all, a friendly face at the end of each day. You simply cannot do better than this hotel. it performs far beyond its two-star class. One caveat: booking.com indicates that here is a “superior room.” No such room exists. Pay for a standard or a large, but there is no view from any room that justifies a higher price.

Location is great. Breakfast and attention to special dietary needs is wonderful. Staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Through no fault of the property owner - currency exchange was the only reason for the lower rating relative to cost of the room.

Everything was amazing
Excellent hotel. If I could give them 11 out of 10, I would. Amazing location, incredible staff and beyond great value for money. We felt like home. Breakfast was fresh with many options and different spread everyday.

The stuff is very friendly. Richardo is super helpful in providing us many useful information on where to see and go. Miguel is also super nice when we come up to pick up our locker luggage’s. The place is brand new. Breakfast is very nice, with hot English breakfast and fresh fruits, yogurts, and much more. Great location and near many fantastic restaurants. What more can you ask for.
