Had a nice time at the Hotel, the owner really cares about his guests. Since I was hiking and got a little of the track to get to the hotel he even drove me to the next crossing were I could continue to walk the Rota Vincentina. The hotel has a separated building block with guest apartments on the ground floor. Absolutely recommend the place. If I will get back into the region I will for sure spend a few nights there again.

Second time in the hotel. Staff is wonderful, always looking to help you. The hotel is pet friendly and our dog enjoyed the clean bed they have prepared for her. To return again maybe in springtime when nature will be green. Amazing sunsets from the rooftop of the main building!

We were surprised as being the only guests that evening that we got a served dinner, and that was splendid! Also for breakfast: we were treated as royaly even if we were only the two of us.

Nothing honestly. There are things that can be improved, but I can't say that my stay was affected by any of it, since I had a great time. Minor notes for improvement (this is extreme nitpicking): - Wifi coverage is great, but it can be unstable sometimes (for VPN connections as an example) Any standard use, even services like Netflix should work fine. - There are insects to be found in the hotel, given its rural setting. The only ones that could "bother" are the bees. However I had no issue with any insects on my stay and if you want to stay at a Rural Hotel you shouldn't either. - The lunch offer can be improved, however I feel that most people that come to Monte Xisto will want to travel around to see the close cities and villages and eat around. The Dinner is excellent, take advantage and have dinner at Monte Xisto. Note: João and Marta I loved our stay and we will come again someday as we spoke when we left. These are simply some minor notes of reference for my booking review.

Hotel Rural Monte Xisto is an excellent rural hotel for a getaway. If you seek to be isolated and far from the "confusion" that big cities are, this is the place. Before going into any details, we were extremely well received by João and his daughter Marta. They were fantastic hosts to us, and were very patient with our small child. :) The rooms are in specific buildings on the other side of the main building, and they are very spacious with very good conditions. They all have WIFI and enough wall sockets for a multitude of devices if you require. They also have a minibar, and complementary water. Also every room has a balcony with chairs, table, clothes hanger and a suspended chair, and it is excellent for relaxation if you like to read for example. Regarding food, the hotel serves breakfast with good enough variety given the "small size", and the staff will provide anything else you might require that is not immediately in sight. The hotel has a small offer for lunch (enough for eating without going out, but with few choices), but the more interesting part is the dinner. The owner João is the "chef" for dinners and he is an excellent cook. You do not chose your meal, João will provide a meal given what local products were purchased that day. Do not fear because the food is excellent at dinner. If you have any dietary restrictions/preferences just inform beforehand, and the food will match your needs. Also the portions will be large for even the most hungry guest. The hotel has 2 pools, they are not heated but they are very pretty and well suited for your leisure. One adults pool and a children pool. The hotel also has a Gym which is surprisingly well stocked for your needs, and also has a paddle field and a small fitness circuit with some "weight operated" machines for your leisure. As a final note: This is a rural hotel, so there are many animals and insects so expect them (I like them).

A lot of details can be better, but price for money and the great feeling of the very family hotel definitely beat them.

Unique atmosphere of family owned and run small hotel with super smiling personnel oriented to every single detail to provide their guest the best and friendly service. You must go for dinner, the hotel owner is also the chef and he knows what is the best. No menu, no buffet, just sit and wait for it. You will receive crème de la crème of the freshest and best local meals cooked with love. It is not even 3* Michelin experience, but you will maybe enjoy even more.
