Rooms very dark, little natural light.

Location excellent. A leaking shower door meant we requested to move room - this was done swiftly, pleasantly and to a nicer room.

Bed was very hard , not a lot of food choices , the toilet and shower were in the middle of the room surrounded by clear glass. Was difficult for taxis to drop off and pick up due to location

Absolutely loved my stay here, cannot recommend this place highly enough. The service was fantastic. A free room upgrade, free drinks for the rooftop bar and a bottle of sparkling wine on the last night.

Nothing really. There had been a leak in the roof which caused some inconvenience but they quickly sorted it out.

Breakfast was excellent and with plentiful choice. The location in the centre of Funchal by the cathedral suited us perfectly. The staff of the front desk always greeted us with a smile. The guys serving on the rooftop bar did an excellent job.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was plentiful and the central location surprisingly quiet. It was a very comfortable base for exploring Funchal and beyond.

EVERYTHING ! Everything was perfect, the team, breakfast, the bed ( oh the bed was … 😍 I had a great sleep for sure), the hotel is so beautiful, it smells so nicee and the decoration is marvelous .

We could not get the coffee machine in our room to work. The en suite had transparent walls!

We loved the location of this hotel. It is very central and was easy to walk to everywhere we wanted to see. The rooftop bar is ideal for sunbathing and the breakfasts are amazing, served in a quirky old- fashioned green room! We were upgraded to a superior room and given a complimentary bottle of Prosecco

Breakfast not great, particularly the hot selection & fruit choice. Personally we didn't like the cubed glass panelled loo & shower - I believe however there are rooms available that offer an enclosed bathroom (of which to be fair we could have changed to but we were unpacked & our room had one of the only sea views)

Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location with excellent staff and service. We spent 2 days at the SBH exploring Funchal. Great downtown location and close to all the shopping, markets, and cable car to monte. Loved the buffet breakfast as did the kids. Look forward to staying here again. An Awesome experience.

The hotel was centrally located, not far from a local car park which costs 6 euros per day. Great position to explore the central part of Funchal. Very friendly welcome, upgraded room and a bottle of bubbly! Comfy room and despite the central location was very quiet. Fabulous roof terrace and the breakfast was the best we had all holiday :)

Everything was excellent. The staff looked after us very well. We checked in early and was upgraded. The room was spotless with chocolates for valentine day and also a bottle of sparkling wine. We were also given a late check out free of charge. Very nice buffer breakfast with plenty of choice. All in all an excellent stay and would certainly recommend. The terrace bar. On the roof is certainly worth a visit.

The bed was a bit springy for me but I wouldn't have complained after all the great things! The main annoyance was the glass bathroom had a curtain on one side for privacy but not the other. If we were only one night it may have got annoying - bear in mind i did book a different room and was upgraded and on looking after, my original room didnt look like it had a glass bathroom.. Also the breakfast wasn't so great sadly - 100% would have gone out to town instead if we're staying more than a night.

The staff were amazing. We were upgraded to a junior suite and for no clear reason, given a bottle of bubbly to enjoy! (It was the day before valentines, so it may have been this, but I was clear in my booking that we were not a couple and trying to escape all the couples by getting away!) The room was lovely and amazing view. The rooftop and location just perfect . Really would highly recommend it! Next door restaurant too if feeling too lazy to venture far like we did on the last day of a week long holiday!

The coffee could've been better, but there are places very nearby that make excellent flat whites. Other than the coffee, the breakfast was plentiful, and offered a huge variety of choices. I especially enjoyed being introduced to local fruits.

The staff work really hard to make clients feel comfortable and go out of their way to be helpful with suggestions on hiking and parking and other things. The rooftop bar is amazing, even in winter. The lounge is inviting and I met some really nice people there which as a solo traveler, I appreciated! I had an excellent experience staying here; I even came back and stayed a second time on this trip!
