Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe only thing is the lock on the bathroom door - it is hard to turn.
The location was fantastic, and inside was a calm, restful place compared to the busy streets around. Great to sit overlooking the street activity below. The decor is stylish, and well looked after. My room was large and very comfortable. The owner was also very quick to respond to my questions online.

AustraliaGreat position in a no car plaza in front of the Se Cathedral with souvenir shops and cafes below. Balcony from the lounge area at the front to watch the Palm Sunday procession go past from the first floor. Good bus system a couple of blocks away. Modern, very clean and quiet in the Bom de Jesus room on the 2nd floor at the back. Shared bathroom but only with a couple of rooms - no problem. Good, hot showers. I loved being able to use the washing machine, and the kitchen facilities were great. The cleaning lady was lovely. No one on site, but great response and help from the kind manager through their Whats App, thank you 👌😀. It felt safe with one code for the front door and one for the room. From the unassuming door in the plaza to the modern classiness and peaceful refuge that you find as you walk up the steps. It felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend 😀

The location by the cathedral is top! The common spaces and rooms are bright, inviting, and immaculately clean. My experience here was outstanding.

HungaryThe beautiful guesthouse is not far from the bus station, only a few meters from the Cathedral, in the old district. The room is big and the bed is comfortable. The nice livingroom and the kitchen are also modern. It was a good choice.

New ZealandThe WiFi connection in our bedroom didn't work - even after changing things on our phones/laptops. We had to go to the shared living space to use the WiFi, which wasn't ideal.
The entire space was clean, tidy and well laid out. The host was responsive and self check-in was straightforward which was great. It was good having the kitchen to use and the shared living room was comfortable. It's located very well in Braga, with restaurants and shops on the same street.

AustraliaI thought it was expensive for what it is - a small room with a shared bathroom. The TV was basic (no Netflix) and most of the satellite channels were in Portuguese. But fine if only there for a day or two (I was there longer). Note that there is no elevator.
Great location, modern, clean, full kitchen. Quiet (on my side of the building, not sure about the front rooms) except when other guests slam doors. The property was SUPER responsive to requests for maintenance or more kitchen items.

United StatesThe only thing that I would make me hesitate to stay here again is the two restaruants on either side of the entrance at street level are open until 2am on the weekends, so for light sleepers, request a room facing the back. Thankfully I had my headphones and noise machine app to help me drawn out the chatter.
This hotel is beautiful. It feels more like staying in a home, but with total privacy. I was on the 2nd floor facing the street, my windows opened onto the street and I could see the beautiful church at the end of the road. There were wonderful black out blinds and curtains. The bed was firm and comfy. The room was well decorated, with night stands on either side of the bed, and two chairs creating a seating area by the windows. There was a huge closet. The bathroom I shared with one other room (there were two rooms on my floor). The bathroom was spacious and spotless throught my stay. The kitchen was fully equipt for cooking, with a full size refridgerator and even a washing machine. The livingroom (on the 1st floor, was really nice, bright, with a big TV comfy couch and chairs. The access codes were easy to use, and you didn't have to worry about loosing any keys.

CanadaAll good 😊
We really enjoyed the total house situation. Not only did we have a comfy bedroom but also a rrlaxing living room with the balcony and a good kitchen, complete with washer and dryer. The location is fantastic, right next to the Se Cathedral. Even though a festival was happening on the streets, the bedroom was quite soundproof, and we slept well. The owner was very kind and texted to see that we had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Braga.

United KingdomLack of soundproofing (a real challenge for most Portuguese properties) meant that noise (especially at night) was amplified whether from within the rooms, the shared bathrooms or other communal areas.
I have to start with the owner, Jacqueline; she’s a wonderful human being and a very welcoming and generous hostess. I loved how well situated the property is to all the historic centre has to offer. It is however right in the heart of the cafe / bar scene, so be mindful if you’re wanting a super quiet city break. The communal lounge was tastefully decorated and relaxing to spend time in. The bedroom I stayed in was cosy and spacious enough for me to feel well and even do some Pilates! The communal kitchen has the basics for cooking light meals, and would be excellent with some pots / pans upgraded and a few more utensils added to the mix. There’s a communal washer and dryer for those wanting the convenience of doing their laundry. The communal bathrooms and all shared areas were cleaned daily by the efficient cleaning team, and they were always clean no matter what time of day I used them.
