Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesExceptional hotel staff. I left my favorite pair of sneakers in the hotel after checkout and the lady at the hotel whose name escapes me now, met me in Lisbon and dropped them off! Who does that these days, I was amazed and humbled at her customer service commitment.

IsraelOnly one thing that I think could be improved, but it would hardly prevent me from visiting again. The windows are soundproof and do a good job blocking outside noises, but there are sounds coming from the hallway and surrounding rooms.
This is a perfect place to be inspired and pampered as you write. Sintra is beautiful, it is as if the muses reside there and can't wait to whisper their stories to writers and singers and artists of all kinds. I went on a solo writing retreat and discovered a small yet perfect paradise. The facilities are amazing - the bed is so comfortable and big you would want to make it your new home. The rooms are big and have enough space for writing comfortably. The bathroom is devine and the place is spotlessly clean. They also provide free water, wine, fruit, tea, and coffee, which they refill daily. The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. They are amongst the few who cook breakfast tailored for your specific dietary requirements. And the breakfast is amazing - generous, delicious, and everything is freshly made. The breakfast's location is also wonderful - if you happen to sit in the terrace as I chose to, you will have a spectacular view with your breakfast every morning. And as others have mentioned there is the sister hotel - where they offer wine and cheese every day at 18:00, free of charge. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you'll also get to hear live Faro music. Regardless, the sister hotel is worth a visit, because the garden views are amazing. You can also enjoy their wonderful swimming pool, which is open until 20:00 every day. I hope I'll get to visit again, it is now my favorite place in Portugal.

United StatesI didn't like that we only spent one night there.
This beautiful hotel is right in the middle of town on a very busy street. This is great for walking, but less great for driving and parking. I was told there could be parking at their sister property (Sintra Marmòris Palace), and luckily, there was. When we finally arrived there I was a bit frazzled! The man who greeted us was so gentle and kind, he gave us permission to park also offered to make us coffees. We accepted and he led us out to the patio, which has a gorgeous view, with peacocks wandering around too. It was a great introduction to the place! The walk to our hotel was pretty short and when we arrived we were very happy with our suite. We were glad to attend a fado performance at the sister property, with wine and cheese. The suite we stayed in was comfortable and fancy, with a fruit basket and coffee station. The bed was comfortable, and it was the first time I saw a TV in a mirror (I forgot to take a picture). The breakfast was delicious, with lots of different items and choices that tasted great, including really good homemade pasteis de nata. They told us we could use the pool at the sister property, which had really nice landscaped gardens and those peacocks. This is a great choice in Sintra, because you get the best of both worlds with its sister property!

United StatesTwo of the mini fridges weren’t working so the drinks were cold. When we returned to our room after it had been cleaned there was broken glass on the floor that had been missed. It would have been nice to have a seating area so that we had somewhere to sit aside from the bed as there was only 1 chair at the desk.
Absolutely beautiful rooms with lovely touches such as the chocolates and wine set out daily. The breakfast was delicious with excellent service. We also really enjoyed being able to take advantage of the wine and cheese tasting at the sister property.

SpainThe lack of parking wasn’t a problem for us, but we weren’t there during high season. Might be harder to find a spot in summer.

GermanyI do not know a hotel which was more friendly and welcoming to the guests than the Camelia - and i visited well over 300. Top breakfast, spotlessly clean rooms, very close to the main attractions of Sintra, 2 minutes from the train station. We are really impressed and can’t understand those clients, who are not giving the maximum points for this property.

United StatesAbsolutely nothing. It was perfect.
This place was awesome. We stayed here as part of 30th Wedding Anniversary trip. Can't imagine a better hotel in Sintra. The staff was incredible. The breakfast was fantastic. The room was elegant. Thoroughly enjoyed the Port. Top it off, we listened to Fado during their wine and cheese hour. The location can't be beat on a quiet street. An easy walk from the train station and to the historic downtown. Sintra is beautiful. Thank you to everyone at Sintra Marmoris Camelia for making our trip so memorable. The hotel and Sintra made our trip like a Fairy Tale.

PortugalThe noise in the room from the kitchen along with the radio station. For such a marvelous place and a fantastic breakfast experience, somo music should be played accordingly. Much more calm vibes would be more appropriate with the environment and the breakfast served.
A delightful breakfast greeted the morning with the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee and golden pancakes adorned with a drizzle of maple syrup. The table was set with a vibrant array of fresh fruits, creating a perfect symphony of flavors that lingered long after the last bite.

Our stay at Sintra Marmoris Camelia exceeded our expectations! Apparently, the hotel used to be someone's private home and was recently renovated and converted to the Marmoris Camelia hotel. Our room was spacious and nicely appointed with thoughtful touches. A gorgeous glass decanter of port as well as local chocolates was displayed on a beautiful mirrored tray. The hotel itself was spotless, with marble stairs and floors polished to a tee. Breakfast was a just as exceptional.
