We would come here to stay every weekend if we could! The place is so quiet and charming, and every little detail (from interior to key chain) is made with so much love. The house stands on a hillside with a lovely view, surrounded by forest. In autumn it turns all golden. There is a terrace (and a hammock!) outside to enjoy a cup of tea or even breakfast on warm days. The breakfast is delicious, and on cold evenings you can have a good wine in front of the fireplace in the sitting room. The hosts are a lovely couple who take care of the guests as of family or friends. We did promise to come back!

There was nothing we didn’t like.

The location was absolutely beautiful. A perfect base to explore the mountains and walk the marked hiking trails in the area. The host, Pedro, was very communicative prior to check in and when we arrived he spent a lot of time explaining where we could go/ what we could do. His parents who were hosting throughout our stay were so lovely and couldn’t do any more for us. They made the experience extremely relaxing and memorable. Particularly loved the view for breakfast, the hammock in the evening and the friendly cat :) I would recommend this stay to anyone looking to relax, unwind, and do some hiking.

While a small home with 3 BR is an advantage, I did feel a bit lack of privacy that you can hear next door, or when walking late at night you do not wake the other rooms. The guests in the other two rooms were very nice couples so we did enjoy some nice time in the living room of small talks and recommendations.

If you look for a place out of the city, in the nature, this is the place for you (see the picture of the house in the forest). Pedro's place has 3BR on the top floor and living room/ dining room on the entrance floor. The welcoming was very warm and nice and the check in was very easy. The place surrounded by forest but with a good easy access by road. Amazing mountain view from the property. The 3 rooms are in different sizes and numbers of beds. we took the suit, the biggest one and it was perfect in space and facility (AC, heating in the bathroom, TV, Sofa..). Breakfast was lovely (you select what you want when you arrive so if can be set for you each morning). In the living room you can make tea/coffee when you want and always fresh fruits available. The small issue we had was addressed fast by the team and Pedro. Around the house and in short driving distance, there are walking trails, a waterfall , forest. Farther you can drive up to the pick and small lakes area. No option for dinner at this place but the near town is 5 min drive and there you can find dinner options. Overall very nice stay to enjoy nature and relax .

We loved everything!

We spent two wonderful days (19-21.9.22) at the Forest House in Manteigas. The House, the surroundings, the most kind and helpful hosts, the breakfast, just everything was excellent. Very recommended for those who want to enjoy an extreme pleasant stay in a most beautiful environment.

Beautiful property with the most amazing hosts. They were so accommodating, prepared amazing breakfast, and gave many suggestions on local things to do. We ended up extending our stay, the surrounding area has so much to see and do. Spend a night here, you won’t regret it!

Part of the staff did not speak English, which made communicating a bit more difficult (but was never a real problem).

The location is beautifull and perfect for hiking and relaxing. The staff is very helpfull and kind. We even got offered free drinks (beer, cider) and snacks after hiking. Fruit and coffee were available the whole day for free. The entire place was very clean. Breakfast was perfect.

The house is situated in a stunning location with beautiful views over the valley and town of Manteigas. The property itself was designed by a Portuguese architect in a very stylish design that combined a Nordic style with Portugal mountain living.

The seclusion of this stay was superb, tucked in a nook of the town… birds all around the property, signing. Great views from the dinning area and the patio. The staff was the most kind and friendly people. They were also so helpful with getting us unexpectedly checked in very late at night and helped us find a place that was open for us to eat. I cannot say enough about how great the staff is and how much we loved the stay!!

honestly, I loved everything about this place! we absolutely enjoyed the gorgeous view over breakfast and the fireplace in the evening. The hospitality was beyond anything I experienced in typical hotels. it felt like we were taken care by family. Our toddler son was in love with the place and the owners :) the house is newly built, all wood, so it has a nice mix of being cozy and clean but without too much of the oldy-mouldy mountain village feel. the location is convenient, short drive to the village and sights.

The only thing I could point out during my stay is the shower strength, as I think it isn't acceptable for this level of property in my opinion. And the last but not least, I think the breakfast could definitely have more traditional (local products/choices).

Staff was amazing regarding almost all my needs. WiFi, please, thank you. The breakfast was quite nice. The place is definitely a bit far from the village itself, however it is in fact a quiet place surrounded by nature. Hiking places very near. Good for an escapade or a light-working weekend.

The staff was very helpful and friendly with perfect English. Gave us suggestions for hikes and places to see near by which we tried and they were excellent. The location is wonderful and the surroundings well kept. A friendly cat has greeted us on arrival and kept us company while we were outside which was very nice. But if you have allergies or other concerns, don't worry, the staff made sure we're ok with the cat and made sure it is kept away while eating outside the great breakfasts they serve. The whole house is kept perfectly clean including the rooms of course. It showed that the owner really loves the place and wants to share it with his guests. It was like staying at a friend's house. If we ever have our way through the area again we will, without a doubt, stay in the same place again. Thank you.
