Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The hotel is in an excellent location and very quiet in the evening. The hotel restaurant and bar are wonderful, with good views of the bridge and river. What made the hotel a 6+ Were Rio and Francois, along with all the other staff. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, Rio and Francois did everything they could to make sure our stay was perfect. We cannot go into enough detail about all they did for us, and we could tell they were treating all the guests with the same excellent hospitality. If we ever have the chance to return to Lisbon, we will stay here again. Good breakfast as well. Fruits and a carafe of port wine in our room!

United StatesNothing, it was perfect.
The staff was PHENOMENAL, I cannot say enough about how much we appreciated them. The hotel itself is amazing, the terrace is beautiful, drinks delicious and you could not ask for a better location. We stayed in the attic suite and the balcony/terrace was STUNNING. You can see the entire city, it was absolutely breathtaking. The room was gorgeous, I never wanted to leave!

United StatesI liked how large the bed was, but it was a little firm for my liking and the pillows were hard as well.
This hotel was in a great location, clean and the staff were all very friendly. Be advised it is Lisbon, so you have to hike up or take the stairs to it. And there is no elevator inside. So you will take the stairs again. We didn’t mind working off all the great food though! The view for food and rooms are fantastic!

United KingdomBathroom does not ventilate outside of room so felt musty but not severe - Quiet room. Carpet in corridor very effective.
Extensive continental breakfast - meats cheese, fruit, yoghurt, breads with cakes and pastries and crepes as well as some buffet hot food - filled us for the day. staff could not be more helpful - there for 6 days and fruit and water replenished in room

United KingdomIt was good. I did not mind the stairs, just 4 short flights to the 4th floor. If you don’t go up you don’t get the view so it’s a five and take, but it’s worth it. The shower door leaks, not a big deal but irritating.
A lot of space, bright, clean, airy, superb view and a great place to be when Lisbon rains! Easy to get to (take taxi) or lift. Fruit basket.

United StatesThe duplex room is phenomenal and we chose it carefully by triangulating on the map to.find the best view of downtown and the NYE fireworks. But it would not be for the hesitant of step - there is a short extremely steep staircase to the front door and the internal staircase within the unit is also steep. But if that's not a problem, it's amazing, with 9 windows offering views in every direction. The upstairs heating was a little unpredictable and loud, but with two floors and two heaters, we just let the heat from downstairs spill upstairs and solved the problem.
The location is excellent, close to the gates of Castelo St. Jorge with enough fun stores (try the custom popsicles a few doors away and the canned fish store within site of the door) and restaurants that you could spend a lazy weekend.without wandering too far. The staff (especially Rio and Francois) are friendly and attentive and we received both port and a fruit bowl on arrival - both of which were too much to finish. It was also an easy stroll to some of the best viewpoints and an elevator down to a.comprehensive market, and the room had a fridge and save, and a smart TV. The gift shop below the hotel is great for convenient soda/water and, in our experience, the gift shop just down the hill on the other side of the street was good.for both selection and pricing. (We saw cork caps that ranged from 8 Euro with odd Euro up to 38.Euro with plain cork - he charged us 10 Euro and was even generous enough to explain the more.expensive shops within the castle grounds had higher rent to cover.

United KingdomNothing!
The hotel was located in a beautiful part of the old town close to the castle! The social area and room was bright, clean and spacious with a high standard boutique vibe and exceptional attention to detail. The staff here really made our first visit to Lisbon extra special. Francois and Rio could not have been more friendly and helpful around the clock providing a rather unique personalised service which, went above and beyond anything we have ever experienced before. The extra touches such as a welcome drink, taking our luggage to the room, providing a hand drawn map to help us navigate our way around the city, leaving fresh fruit and port for us in the room etc. really enhanced our experience and made such a huge contribution to creating a truly memorable trip! We cannot recommend this place enough and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in the future!

United KingdomLike others have said it's on a steep hill, but it wasn't really an issue.
Very enjoyable stay. Room was large with the most fantastic view, and the biggest bed I've ever seen. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, constantly checking everything was to put satisfaction and helping with suggestions and directions. The location is ideal, a short walk to the castle and plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Also had lunch in the hotel when we arrived, and it was delicious (as well as a very generous welcome drink!). Thoroughly recommend.

United StatesThis is a boutique hotel without a formal lobby. The lighting in the check in/breakfast area was very bright and could be softer. Also, you have to leave your room key at the front desk when leaving the hotel - it was just a small inconvenience.
My daughter and I had the room with the king sized bed, which was the biggest king I've ever seen, and spectacular views. I loved the spaciousness of the room -- it felt like an apartment -- and the natural light from two sides. The bathroom had two showers and ample room. The bed was comfortable and the room was blissfully quiet. The staff was outstanding, notably Francois and Rio. We loved the fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast and the fact that they prepared an early breakfast for us on our last day. They worked very hard to make sure we had everything we needed. We also loved the Alfama location.
