We loved everything about our stay here, but be aware that Monsanto is no place for people who have walking difficulties.

We absolutely loved our stay at Taverna Lusitana! The hosts (who own and operate the tavern) were welcoming, kind and went out of their way to make our stay there enjoyable. Our accommodations were wonderfully comfortable, spotlessly clean and so unique - we really enjoyed ourselves. The breakfast served to us on the patio overlooking the hillside was delicious. Had we known how beautiful it is in Monsanto, we would have extended our stay there.

An absolute pleasure to stay here with super kind and relaxed hosts. Monsanto was our favourite town in Portugal and our wonderful and thoughtfully designed accommodation and kind hosts added enormously to our experience. The charming terrace was a wonderful place for breakfast or a drink. The sister restaurant also had a glorious terrace and excellent food. Highly recommended! Can't wait to return!

Bathroom is a bit small but that is a small detail (only because I had to say a con)

Owners were very friendly. Breakfast on the Taverna rooftop terrasse was excellent and more than enough. Room was comfy and, as a bonus, fun for the kids.

Would have appreciated advance info on parking. While the address shows on mapping software, it is not auto accessible, parking is a little down the hill.

Outstanding tavern, staff and VIEW. Beautiful town and castle, chapel and hike. Local beer, made including chestnuts, is very good. Tavern food is great.

The tarven is amazing, the food and ambience are great. The rooms are very spontaneous with rocks, exceptional experience. The couple owner are warm and nice, help a lot on parking and others. strongly recommend. Hope having a chance to visit again!

Totally unique. ‘Cave’ dwelling with modern, super clean amenities. Friendly hosts who wanted to make everything perfect. Beds were very comfy. Nice and warm, even though it was January. Bathroom with glittering massive rocks included was a crazy plus. Breakfast, like the others say, more than good.

A wonderful place to stay! One of the highlights of our trip. The house was perfect and the beds were comfortable. The host was amazing and provided the most delicious breakfast even thought we had to leave super early in the morning. I have already told several friends to stay here if they get the chance.

Despite best use of space, the bathroom is cramped.

The hosts João and Helena! They did everything in their power to make our stay memorable. The room was comfortable and equipped with all necessities. The hotel is located at almost the highest point of the village. This makes the further hike up to the castle that much “easier”. Helena tried to make dinner reservations for us in the village but the lone restaurant in Monsanto was fully booked. Helena volunteered to make lasagna for us. Next morning we had a really great breakfast (included). It kept us full all the way through dinner

Remember to bring a small bag to your room and not your suitcase. It is a hike to the property from the last place you can park your car.

This property is wonderful. Tons of space and an amazing view. We had dinner at the property and is was amazing.

Next to the fact that the accommodation is super clean, modern and absolutely unique, the hospitality of the owners is incomparable! The views of the area during dinner and breakfast are fantastic and for us there was no better way to explore the town of Monsanto on our way back to Lisbon. I was also very happy to see that vegetarian dishes (for dinner) were being accommodated, since I am vegetarian, but my partner isn’t. 10/10 can recommend!

Lovely owners. Incredible terrace for breakfast and drinks in evening. Good accomodations. The village is quite unique and much larger than expected. Possibly the most scenic viewpoints in Portugal.
