Quiet mountain town with little night life after restaurants close

It is an exceptional location next to a marvelous botanic garden with a large natural hot pool and a short drive to a nearby lake that has a fascinating thermal history and excellent hiking trails. Enjoyed after-hours at the large hot pool and the exceptional buffet breakfast

This hotel is simply amazing. We got offered an upgrade to a Suite. When we arrived to our room we had a basket of goodies waiting for us: 2 eye masks, a basket of fruit, water bottles, sweets. The hotel is simply beautiful. Every afternoon we were surprised by little gifts waiting for us in our room: chocolate bonbons or a brownie. The natural hot spring swimming pool open 24/7 is the best thing you can wish for. We loved to go for swims after dinner when it was cold at night and watch the stars. We had dinner twice in the hotel and the food was delicious. I would recommend the "cozido" soup, the lighter and more interesting version of the typical "cozido" – a meat dish cooked underground with the steam from the hot springs. We had a marvellous stay.

Nothing, really! -or.. the garden jacuzzis have been closed off for renewal for a full year now, but hopefully, they will re-open soon.

Good and varied breakfast. Wonderful interior and is very comfortable. Huge outdoor hot spring ''spa pool (or nearly a small lake...) where guests can swim in the dark and watch the stars!

We have been coming for a few years and the service is still very good. Also they have now added a sushi service in the bar which is excellent. More offering of this type (easy, light food) would be appreciated allows not to eat in the restaurant which is good but a bit heavy on a daily basis...

The food was very attractively presented but not as tasty as we thought it should be for the price. However breakfast was exceptional. Put some real plants in the pool area, it would add so much. Place directions in the rooms on how to operate the coffee maker and other aspects of the room to help guide guests.

We loved our beautiful suite, swimming in the pool and of course the hot springs! It is a lovely private place and we would love to return someday. We have told all our friends about how unspoiled The Azores and San Miguel is.

The mineral pool is exceptional, the breakfast is outstanding with many choices, hot and cold foods, fruits, yogurt, many fresh homemade pastries, fresh squeezed fruit juices, good coffee. The people who work at this hotel are exceptional. The bellman, the desk staff, housekeeping and there was a bit of construction (to improve the mineral pool) and several hotel workers were there to take care you were able to pass to the pool. (This construction is temporary). Everyone was exceptionally nice. The hotel has a huge botanical garden to walk thru that is outstanding. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The products are very nice and they loan you an exceptional bathrobe to go to the pool. It was so comfortable I want to buy one like it! I’m coming back to this hotel whenever I am on this island!

The best hotel I have ever stayed in. Everything you expect with friendly staff, clean and ample parking; but with so many other things which put it above the rest. The botanical gardens attached are beautiful, the use of the thermal pool to cap off your evening is magical and the food from either of the two restaurants is exceptional. Highly recommend.

The water in the bathroom sink doesn’t get hot. Our tub didn’t drain well.

The beds are great! The room is plenty big enough, the gardens are beautiful and provide nice trails to wander through, the thermal bath is huge and very relaxing. The pillow menu is a fantastic idea!

It is exquisite. Grounds and thermal pools are so beautiful and relaxing . As a guest you can swim there at night after other tourists have left . Gorgeous breakfast . Wonderful staff . Noticed it was husbands birthday snd left sparking wine in our room. This was our 5th visit we love it

The hot spring was under serious renovations which impacted the enjoyment of our stay.

Wonderful breakfast was included with our rate. The hotel facility was very nice but a bit dated. The staff was very professional and want to be seen as a first class hotel.
