Maybe I'm old but I prefer regular light switches in hotels to you don't need to figure out how they work when visiting for 1 or 2 days.

Great hotel, Breakfast was great in a beautiful room with outside terrace as well. Close to everything but still at least 1 block away from the noise.

no funcional closet to put your clothes. shower, the water drainage is poor so you have standing water inside which starts to smell funy after night. hanger for the towel in the shower it’s placed in such a way that towel gets wet. sink sprinkles the water all around it. the entire bathroom/shower looks nice but it’s funcionality is different story.

Some parts of the hotel were showing their age; bed creaking, USB ports not working. But very minor as we had a great week and slept well. Our room sadly didn’t face the sea, but given the very hot weather this wasn’t an issue.

Property is very well located near the centre of Funchal, much nearer than most of the other 4/5 star hotels in the hotel zone which are both further away and typical up a few steep hills. It had excellent amenities such as great restaurant, pool, spa treatments and attentive staff. Breakfast buffet was top notch. We were also upgraded to a Junior Suite. The hotel itself backs onto a shopping centre, which proved extremely useful for picking up last minute holiday bits (sun cream, socks, pharmacy etc)

Overall a very nice ****hotel! Pool and the Spa were very good for a city hotel. Breakfast and the view from the restaurant were very good. The size of the room was very good. Free parking at the hotel is perfect.

The parking garage is rather difficult to find. Look for Private parking on Google maps. That's where you're headed.

There were no bedside charging ports in our room, so if we wanted to charge anything, we had to do it at the table, which wasn't always convenient

There were a couple of snags in our room - the door stop came out, the hand-held shower was not well fitted and our empty tissues and bathroom accessories were not replaced when they were empty until we made it obvious. Our view was poor. These did not detract much from our overall positive impression.

The ambience and 'feel' of the hotel was very good. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was generally very good and the UVA restaurant was excellent. The room we were given was very comfortable. The roof terrace and pool were lovely.

The vine was a lovely stay for a week!! We booked in advance on Booking.com and so got for a reasonable price. Location, staff and facilities were all amazing. They couldn’t have done enough for us. We were told on arrival that unfortunately the top pool wasn’t working so we would need to go to another hotel to use the pool facilities, at first I was really dissapointed however the hotel upgraded us to a junior suite to compensate, and ran taxis for free to and from the vine to the neighbouring hotel and the hotel with the pool was amazing and just as good if not better than the vines so we had no issue with doing this on sunny days. Honestly would stay again, has a great city vibe and lovely lovely staff that go above and beyond. It was the first holiday I have been on in years that was smooth and comfortable from start to finish. No complaints!

Many design features are meant to look attractive on picture but not to be convenient for users If your computer has virus/firewall protection, connection to WIFI could be a piece of headache

An excellent hotel in a good location closer to the city than most. Award-winning design works well, though light switches need careful study. Disabled room works well too. Fine rooftop restaurant a bonus.

On arrival we were told that the rooftop pool and bar were out of action due to bad storms causing alot of damage. We were very disappointed as we weren't told beforehand . We found out that other people had been offered a full refund if they wished to go to another hotel. We were offered one complimentary drink each for this which we didn't feel was good enough. After speaking to the Manager we were offered a complimentary 3-course evening meal in the hotel including all our drinks. we were also offered a room upgrade to the Junior Suite, although the upgraded room itself was luxurious and spacious we had a problem with street and road noise as the room was on the front of the hotel above the shopping centre entrance. We were offered a refund for the remaining nights if we did want to change hotels.

The breakfast was excellent, great selection of food and the staff were very attentive. The hotel location was very good , just a short walk to all amenities. The old town was further to walk approx 15 - 20 mins. We had one evening meal in the hotel restaurant which was excellent.
