The hotel was remarkable. The place is beautiful, and beyond words, the owner thoabout everything and most of all how to pamper the guests. So clean and with a remarkable taste. The staff and owner are so helpful. The food is great. It's a place to stay and never leave.

Marta and her team were such great hosts. They were patient, gracious, attentive and very generous. They helped us with our rental car issues and followed through (even after checking out) just to make sure we were alright and had reached our destination safely. We are so thankful for their generosity and kindness. The property was also gorgeous to say the least. Every detail was meticulously yet subtlely well thought out. We had the most comfortable stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The view from our room was to die for. Needless to say, our experience was nothing short of amazing. Once again, kudos and obrigada to Marta and team.

We loved our stay in The Vagar. The warmth welcome of the owner Marta, Vera and the girls. Their attention to every detail made us feel very at home. We cannot describe in words how beautiful this country house is. How wonderful the people running it, is. This hotel / CountryHouse has only six rooms. The decoration is modern warmth. Simple yet very tasteful. The views from the surrounding valleys are wonderful.

One thing that could potentially be improved - but understandably there may not be the facilities for it at this stage - is a bit more variation in the choices for lunch or dinner when eating at TheVagar. The breakfast, however, is great with lots of choice!

We had a great time at TheVagar and would definitely recommend it! It was a memorable way to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We especially loved the details of the house - the tasteful renovation and architecture of the property, the attractive design details in our room and the communal areas, as well as the outdoor areas (especially the pool!). The daily afternoon tea and cake was also a welcome treat. Marta and her team were all an absolute pleasure to deal with and they made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The landscape with the mountains and the walks possible from the property were also a bonus!

Beautiful decor, lovely neutral tones, a lot of thought gone into the details, very comfortable, and relaxing, great location with fantastic views, love the jeep safari to dinner at the Convento De Belmonte. Friendly hosts, lovely breakfast and afternoon tea. Had the best sleep in a longtime! simply perfect and wish we could have stayed longer.

Amazing in general. Everyone there was super friendly and amazing. The views are outstanding and I highly recommend the picnic on the mountain. The infinity pool is also outstanding. Amazing restaurants accessible by car. In general we loved everything they had to offer.

The hotel was beautifully refurbished. We like the fact that it is not a big commercial hotel and that it provides peace, comfort in a beautiful place. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was freshly prepared morning with freshly squeezed juices and the best cheeses and delicious fresh yogurt, we chose the option to have it delivered to our room came in the cutest basket. There is also some spa services available. The owner Marta was very hospitable and accommodating and the staff are polite and very friendly. Our stay was very relaxing and with personal touch from Marta and of course very welcoming feel from Boneca, their dog.

the hotel was beautifully refurbished from existing old farm. it’s feels cosy and almost like your own home. we like the fact that it is not a big commercial hotel. the room was spacious and very comfortable. breakfast was freshly prepared every morning with various spreads, pastry and freshly squeezed juices. the hotel comes with a big swimming pool. as there was only a few rooms in the hotel, you wouldn’t get the usual crowded feeling and also you get privacy at your own balcony & even at the different compounds of the hotel, which is hard to come by. the hotel sits on a big land connecting to the national park behind & we had an easy trek to the Belmonte town not far. there’s also some spa services available. the owner Marta was very hospitable and accommodating. our stay was very enjoyable with personal touch from Marta and of course very welcoming feel from their dog Boneca.

My partner and I recently had the pleasure of staying at TheVagar Countryhouse in Portugal, and I must say it was an absolutely enchanting experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms and genuine smiles, setting the tone for a truly memorable stay. 
The location was straight out of a fairytale. Surrounded by lush greenery and picturesque countryside views, we felt like we had stepped into a tranquil oasis. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our room was like a cozy haven, blending traditional Portuguese charm with all the modern comforts we needed. The bed was super comfy, and we slept like babies every night. The attention to detail was evident, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches that made us feel so pampered. The breakfast, oh my goodness, the breakfast! Each morning was a delightful culinary adventure, and we couldn't get enough of the flavors and freshness. It was a real treat for our taste buds! The best part, though, was the people. The staff at TheVagar Countryhouse were simply amazing. They were friendly, helpful, and genuinely passionate about their beautiful region. They had fantastic recommendations for onsite activities (don’t miss out the jeep tour & picnic !) & interesting sites nearby (visit of Sortelha was our highlight !). We took full advantage of the lovely facilities at the country house. Whether we were lazing by the gorgeous infinity pool, having relaxing massage outdoor, strolling through the charming surrounding of the property, or just lounging in the sun with a good book, we felt totally at peace. Leaving TheVagar Countryhouse was bittersweet; we didn't want to say goodbye to this little piece of paradise. We left feeling refreshed and relaxed. In short, if you're looking for a slice of heaven in Portugal, TheVagar Countryhouse is the place to be. It's a hidden gem that stole our hearts, and we can't wait to go back.

A true retreat, surrounded by nature on a hillside in Belmonte. We chose The Vagar for the convenient location for exploring the area by car. An entire vacation could be spent on the property, wandering, taking nature hikes, relaxing, swimming, or taking advantage of the may spa services offered. The layout of the property lends itself to exploration or finding a quiet corner to read, write or simply enjoy the sounds and smells of countryside. There is an infinity pool, fire-heated hot tub, fire pit, stunning chapel, beautifully decorated main room, a large vine covered pergola, cold water therapy shower from the natural spring, and walking paths. The custom order breakfasts were an artful display, abundant and varied. We stayed in the family room which is very spacious and beautiful views from it's own porch overlooking the valley. We loved our stay and many adventures on the area, it was ideal for us in atmosphere and location.
