Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe bed was very hard and not very comfortable. We were at the bottom of the hotel (no balcony) but there was working going on outside or room and it was very loud and workers looking in the window couldn’t have the window open when in the room.

Loved it here. Great deal for the location. Close to old town but far enough the noise and craziness isn’t a factor. Older hotel with rooms updated. Great pool. Amazing breakfast

IrelandI liked the boutique style but my husband prefers a more hotel like place. The room and balcony were small, but also functional and spotlessly clean. Be careful of the seagulls on the veranda, do not leave food unattended!
Very central to the beach and the old town with everything in a few minutes walk. No car or taxis needed. The staff were friendly.

United KingdomThe pool was freezing cold but I don't blame the hotel as that's the way it is everywhere in Europe these days. There were only a few sunbeds but it was too cold to sunbathe so it didn't matter. Also, bring a hairdryer, the one in the bathroom doesn't work well. There's not really a hotel bar so don't expect too much. You can get a drink but it takes time to get served as staff are on front desk. My husband got a diet coke that tasted terrible and when he looked at the can it was 5 months out of date. Cocktails weren't good but again, I wouldn't drink here, you're only a short walk away from pubs, coffee shops and restaurants so that wouldn't put me off staying here again.
This was a nice room for the price we paid. My brother in law booked a room with a balcony but it was quite small, however we booked a room on the ground floor (without a balcony) and it was much bigger. The area was lovely and quiet, a very short 5-10 min walk into the busy area but far enough away to be peaceful. 15 or 20 min walk to the lovely Marina which has restaurants and pubs. The area was really lovely, we didn't have one bad meal. Breakfast in the guest house was enough for our needs. There were boiled eggs, toast, bread, muffins and pastries with juices and some cereals, fruit, cold meats, the usual continental fare. Coffee was OK, sometimes there was a chemical taste, but I found it hard to find a really good coffee in Portugal on the whole. Our room was very clean and staff were very friendly and attentive. The bed was so firm that I was worried that I wouldn't sleep but actually we slept quite well. You could hire a safe in the room if needed. Air con worked well 3 out of 4 nights. TV had lots of channels and there was Sky News and some english movie channels too. People in Portugal are very nice. There is something for everyone in this area. I recommend visiting midweek if you want to avoid all the stags and hens, but there are nice tavernas that you can visit if you want a quieter night. Drinks are cheap at only 2.50 euros a pint upwards and 6 euros for cocktails on the happy hours which can be from 12 to 7pm! It's a really great place to visit, although I imagine the area gets rammed in July and August so choose your times wisely.

United KingdomOnly thing the hotel could improve on was having more Sunbeds as only nine, if you went In peak season you would be very lucky to get one There is space to have more within the area with a little space mamgenent Also if they got lighter sunbeds the one they have are very comfortable but very heavy to move especially for older people
Location ,room and view from the pool area we're all excellent

IrelandGiving the 200 euro safeguarding money at the start of our holidays. We had paid in advance and feel that there should be a trust there that we would respect the hotel. Apart from that we really enjoyed the whole experience.
The hotel was ideal for a quiet break, yet was close to both the beach and Old Town for having the full Albufriera experience. The view of the sea was amazing, we could hear the waves from our bedroom which was so soothing. The Staff were very efficient, courteous and helpful. The breakfast was fresh every morning and very healthy.

United KingdomWe were on top floor and paid premium for balcony and sea view, although sea view was great, i wouldn’t call it a balcony, it was tiny and only could see a sea view when standing. Breakfast the same every day and only continental. The beds were very hard.
Extremely good location, 2 minutes from the beach and town centre but at the same time really quiet. Beautiful views from the restaurant terrace. Really clean and tidy. Pleasant staff.

CanadaIt would be nice to have tea & coffee available before and after breakfast hours of 8:00-10:00. While the view from our room was beautiful, the bed faced the wrong direction so we were facing a wall rather the the oceanview.
Great location. Breakfast was a decent spread of selections.

PortugalThe hotel may ask for additional payment for using their towels (there's a note that if you try to use them while you have sunscreen/cosmetics/etc you might have to hay penalty). The most of the guests are seniors (this isn't a minus for sure, but the next item might be caused by that). The guests, who have booked the rooms near the pool, might scream at you if you try to sit/relax in the pool area after 7pm. Due to, you may be either near their rooms (some of them have doors right to the pool) or disturb them to sleep (yes, at 7pm).
Nice location. Good breakfast options. Nice view from the pool area.

AustraliaThe rooms are small and quite dark, with people walking in front of the windows. Breakfast is fairly poor with no variety and almost no hot options. The town itself is not that enjoyable to be in
The location is quite good, it is 4 mins to the beach and 10 minutes to the city center where all cafes and bars are, the view is amazing from the pool area and you can enjoy the sunrise in the morning

LithuaniaVery strict hotel rules regarding using everything in hotel room (not seen such in any other hotel previously). Added photos with responsibility agreement which we signed while check-in and also warning in bathroom. Also, don't forget to take hair dryer (the one in room doesn't dry anything :()

United StatesNothing to dislike here. The desk staff was often working in the kitchen or elsewhere, so we sometimes had to look for them to answer questions, but that's a minor issue.
Liked the location most of all. Beautiful view of the ocean and near old town center. Staff was very friendly and helpful to all our needs. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Hotel was not overly crowded and only adults.

United KingdomWe were initially located in a street side facing room which we found very noisy at night. We requested a move to a seaview room (extra cost) which was much quieter.
The location of Vila Sao Vicente is excellent if you want to be close to Albuferia old town. The seaview room was very nice. The simple continental style breakfast was more than excellent and we soon started looking forward to it.
