Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsBeautiful located on the river Douro, this new hotel gives you everything you need. From a luxurious entree you drive to this grand hotel. The staff is still learning, they just opened in June. But once these little issues are solved, you really feel like a king. The rooms are high tech, from electric closed curtains to Total shut down of the lights beside your bed. The restaurant has a beautiful 5 course menu, with wines that can be selected by the glass. All the rooms are highly decorated with a modern touch. Outside you will find, in a very big garden, a large swimmingpool and poolside bar. What a splendid hotel, that gives you a royal, almost majestic feeling!

PortugalThis is the up and coming hotel in Portugal. It just got opened and you would be already hard pressed to find a better spot in the country. The decor, the facilities, the staff... all 10 in my book. Congrats!

BrazilLocation is very removed from everything, and during the winter kind of depressing as the area outside is all closed down. I wish I had chosen a hotel near town, or just across the bridge. The neighborhood is residential, not particularly pretty and far. I expected more from the food of both the casual restaurant and for breakfast. I am not a fan of all the gold / flashy decor, but nothing wrong with it, just style preference. I thought the main hotel building would be the pretty red house from the pictures but it is actually the big grey box hidden behind it. We also couldn’t get the room temperature to work properly…
Very friendly service, at front desk and restaurants. Room was big, comfortable bed. Helpful with reservations. Blackouts work well! And they had a great crib for my two year old.

UkraineSmall and absolutely not convenient bathroom. Technical problems in check out, I have spent 15 min for waiting incl taxi charges. I did not found fitness room. Absolutely stupid rule that guests have to wear swimming cap in indoor swimming pool, stupid because it is not olimpic pool for sport swimming, just usual small. Very noisy guests and very slow service near outdoor swimming pool.
Amazing dinner and the team in the dining restaurant, very good job! Really nice design, except big failure with bathroom. I love the garden with view at Porto. Nice cocktail bar.

AustraliaThe staffs are like “Black Comedy”. It supposed to be 5 star hotel. Staffs seems very restless and staff kept forgetting many things. That happens if Staffs are exhausted of working . Not well trained to be at 5 star. Thats why I descried as Black comedy.
This is impeccable property . Out skirt of Porto city .

SingaporeFirst, we were unable to sleep as our room was very hot with a faulty aircon for two out of three nights. Someone was called to the room but was unable to resolve the issue. They offered to move us to another room, but then they advised that the other room was experiencing the same issue. They called in a technician the next day who was able to resolve the issue; however, the issue was back on our third night. This led to a highly disruptive stay and prevented us from getting adequate rest. Based on other reviews, cooling seems to be a known issue so it’s quite disappointing that a hotel of this calibre hasn’t done anything to appropriately address the problem. Second, the hotel has a gated entrance and they do not always answer the intercom. The gate is located a decent walk down a steep slope to the lobby so it’s really quite inconvenient to be stuck at the top. Third, they offer coffee and tea facilities in the room but tried to charge 10 euros for us to get any milk or cream. Two phone calls and a visit to reception later and there was still no budging on this insanity. Worth noting too that the lady we were speaking with was extremely rude. I believe the manager overheard some of these discussions and later called to apologise and offered to resolve the issue, which was most appreciated, but the whole ordeal was very odd. Fourth, there is a lack of basic customer care and focus that you’d expect from a 5 star hotel. Given our poor experience, you might expect they’d be interested in hearing out our concerns. Many hotels might comp something off our F&B bill as a gesture given we came to a hotel to sleep and weren’t able to do so. They offered us a free cocktail at their bar during a FUTURE stay. Thought this was quite poor form given they had given us no reason to return.
The building and setting is stunning, design inside and out is beautiful, and several very nice staff. We didn’t get a chance to eat at the main restaurant as they were fully booked but we ate at the bar which served fantastic food and had an amazing bartender. Various small details that they’ve nailed, from Reidel drinking glasses in the room to Jo Malone amenities. They’ve clearly put a lot of effort into ensuring many aspects are perfect so it’s a shame they’ve let us down on some of the most basic expectations of a hotel. They’ve honestly got the potential to be an amazing world-renowned hotel so hopefully they’ll get there at some point.

PortugalUpon arrival to our room the bed board was poorly secured to the floor and we were afraid it would fall on us during the night. A replacement room was eventually provided but without an apology from management, just from the lovely bellboy. That room also had issues, the clean and do not disturb sign wasn’t working, the door would only close if extreme force was applied. We reported the issues and we’re informed the maintenance service wasn’t available. On top of that, housekeeping left our bedroom door open all day. Due to the lack of a do not disturb we informed reception whenever we would be resting, but still a member of the housekeeping barged in after only nocking once and without waiting for response. Room service was quite disappointing, the chocolate mousse had actual red chilli peppers inside, and was uneatable, so was the raw burger, when we ordered medium well. In the hope of relaxing I booked a relaxing massage and facial treatment. Although maintenance was supposably not available for our door, there was maintenance and drilling noise outside the SPA during my facial. After a 2 hour SPA treatment I was rushed out and not even offered a cup of tea. At checkout no one asked if we had any complaints, they stated they knew we made some complaints, barely apologised, and no compensation whatsoever was offered. Sadly the hotel doesn’t offer the 5 star service they should.
Well decorated and good views over the river.
