Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe street wasn't really a good street, although that isn't their fault. The entrance looked a bit tired and the restaurant below was kind of noisy. The matrasses of the beds were too soft (though some people like that), maybe a bit old.
Location was very central. The staff was very friendly and willing to help and the prices were low. The bathroom facilities were clean. So was the room. Towels and linen included. Room was small but had everything we needed.

SerbiaThe beds are kinda short, I’m 174cm tall and my feet were hanging from the bed :/ Due to the location (a lot of restaurants around) our room smelled of food whenever we open the balcony door. It’s really small, not too comfortable, but if you just need a place to sleep and shower with great location then this is great value.
The location is great, the staff is super nice!

AustriaOur room was quite small and had no aircon. The fan makes sleeping just bareable but still not comfortable and as all the other reviews say it can stink from the plumbing... I must admit, I was rather late booking the room only two weeks in advance but 90€ per night (double room + private bathroom) is just too much for what you get.
The biggest asset of this guesthouse is the location within the city. It is close to the old town city centre and Rossio station. Just be aware that you have to walk up this back alley which might apear a bit shady. The staff is really nice and the have common room areas like a kitchen, a laundry room and sofas.

BrazilThe bed was uncomfortable. The kitchen is small, two people cooking there at the same time can be a little complicated. It's a noisy area and the walls are very thin, so you'll hear conversations and noises all day.
The location is really nice, close to the main attractions. The building is clean and you see the employees taking care of it all the time. Check-in was very easy.

ItalyThere was no air conditioning, it was too hot. The balcony was really small and there was a tube coming from the underground. And it brought heat. Almost no natural light. The bathroom was really small but that wasn't really a problem.
It was in a perfect place, a bit weird during the night but overall safe :)

QatarThe bath enamel was that worn, it was pitted to the metal. The shower head needed to be hand held as the was no fitting on the wall. It was quite noisy, other guests and the bin men arrived at 01.30 in the morning. The location, although great for exploring, felt intimidating- a lot of young men hanging around. Even when I left at 04.09 to get my taxi to the airport.
It was spotless ( except for the bath) and in a great location to explore the city, and beyond.

The breakfast was nice overall, with a variety to choose from. The room was small, but comfortable. A little expensive for the size, but it was at the height of summer so it’s understandable.

AustraliaLight at the front door would’ve been helpful, very dark trying to navigate the stairwell. Pillows slightly uncomfy and small. We had a room with no window but a window in the ceiling, we just got unlucky as it rained during our stay so we couldn’t leave open at any point so became stuffy - I’m sure this wouldn’t be an issue in sunny Lisbon most of the time!
Rooms were clean, tidy and well equipped. Location ideal! Staff were friendly. Kitchen and terrace were outstanding - quiet and organised. Nice to get some sun on the terrace without leaving the house. Bathrooms so clean.

NetherlandsThe location is perfect! Most sightseeings are in walking distance (tram 28, Baixa centre, Santa Justa lift, Alfama) or else you have a metrostation in less than 5 minutes walking (Martim Moniz and Rossio). The room is small, but clean, just like the shared bathroom (2 showers and 3 toilets). Would definitely recommend!
