Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SerbiaI am overjoyed :)
Very friendly manager Susan. The apartment has literally everything you could need. The place is quite ok, the only thing is that it is on a hill, so it might not be for someone who has a problem with climbing uphill.

United KingdomBecause the stairs to the apartment and other apartments were wooden there was some noise when people are running up and down them which woke us up a few times. Other than that the flat was great.
Nice little apartment within walking distance of many sights, bars, restaurants. 5 minutes to the castle.

RussiaThere were no big inconveniences. If it is important for someone: the apartment is a little dark and the bathroom door needs to be kept open. The builders also make noise in the morning, but it didn’t bother us to sleep after an active day :)
Friendly and pleasant owners of the apartments, wrote all the instructions and left gifts. It was very nice, thank you! Excellent location, close to the center, close to the tram line. Cozy and clean apartment with everything you need. The only thing is that it is a bit dark due to the scaffolding and there is no hood in the shower (you must remember to keep the door open). The bed did not suit my husband, but I felt comfortable sleeping. I can recommend these apartments.

United StatesThere was construction at the attached house, which made it loud. It was dusty when entering the alley to my apartment, due to construction. The place was very dark. The bathroom could have been much cleaner. Something needs to be fixed because when you take a shower, the water runs on the bathroom floor. I had to lay towels there to avoid that. Some of the things in the place could be updated, mostly the hot water kettle. It was very old and dirty.
Location is great. The place was hard to find but the host met me to hand over the key. There was coffee that someone had left in the apartment. I liked that there is Netflix.

CanadaBasic supplies in the room were limited (i.e. towels and toilet paper). As some hosts limit these supplies, I did not think to ask for more, which I found out afterwards would have been okay. Noise levels inside the building were dependent on other tenants moving around quietly and keeping voices low. Also not the host's fault, there was an issue most days with the light in the entrance to the building, making entry difficult as it was pitch dark in the little lobby.
The location was excellent for touring Lisbon on foot, and not too far from a metro station. Although very close to a busy street, closing the windows effectively shut out any street noise at night. The host responded quickly to messages. Good value.

PolandNice location, comfortable place. In the kitchen a lot of things for cooking (pots, grill pan, etc.) There's adjustable electric heating. The hosts are really nice, they are always available in case of questions. They welcomed us with a small jar of local ginjinha liquor. I always appreciate such small symbols of hospitality. We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment.

United StatesI really can't think of anything. Maybe if they don't have an air conditioner? I'm sure that everyone in that part of the globe doesn't really matter too much. We had a lot of us come from I in the mountains and the humidity is very dry. It something you have to get used to! But that's not on Casa do Castelo
! This location is in the right space it needs to be for Lisbon! Susanna is amazing and helped us through a couple things that we got through by pushing the flight back to 1:30 a.m. Dash and it started dumping rain! She was okay to answer at 3:00 a.m. and help me talk through the keypad. The location is really great if things you want to do in the museums and other things that you could walk to, and things that would be too much to walk to there are trans, buses, and metros that are very close to jumping on them. The facility was great! I've had a mini kitchen, the table with a few chairs, refrigerator, microwave and better than everything- a wash and dry clothes machine! The value is in your budget, which is fantabulous

United StatesMartim Moniz area is a bit seedy and dirty (in my opinion), While I felt safe in the area, it can be a bit intimidating for a solo female traveler. If you are traveling late in the evening, I would recommend using a taxi or Uber from the station to the apartment . There was quite a bit of construction noise, but luckily I tried to get up and out early to avoid hearing it. The washer/dryer combo worked well for washing, I never could figure out how to dry things.
This unit is close to the lookout over the Tagus River. Close to Tram 28 and 12 and several decent restaurants. (Yay for Indian food at Yak & Yeti). it is a 10 minute walk from the Martim Moniz Metro stop on the green line and you can walk to Rossio. It has a nice mix of locals and visitors for an authentic neighborhood feel. There is a handmade lighting fixture that added a beautiful modern touch to the old world charm. The hosts responded to any emails promptly and addressed all concerns satisfactorily. Close to the castle.

GermanyFloor and furniture not clean. Rather old / used furniture. Tear in the bed sheets. Weird smell, bringing in fresh air is not easy bc windows only faces the tiny shaft between the neighboring houses. Very loud, you hear every word the other guests say. On the last day, the cleaning staff woke us up in the morning by ringing the bell and trying to unlock the appartment bc they came one hour too early to clean the room.
Good location in Alfama. Comfortable mattress.

CanadaThe shower door was not super effective which meant we were constantly mopping up water outside the shower. Otherwise, the common area and bedroom were nice! The room fan was super helpful since the unit is not air conditioned. The location is also on a very steep uphill from Martim Moniz station, so keep that in mind if you have suitcases - it would make more sense to take the trolley (if you can find its stop) or a taxi.
The property is a little hidden away, which made it difficult to find initially, but our host was incredibly helpful and guided us over the phone until we found the keys. After that, it was smooth sailing!
