“One of the highlights of our stay was the lakeside location, complete with a free boat for guests to use. This added an extra touch of adventure and relaxation to our trip, allowing us to explore the lake at our leisure. The surroundings were picturesque, with lush greenery and a tranquil setting that provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway.
We were also impressed with how well-maintained and clean the property was. The hosts clearly take great pride in their B&B, ensuring that guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The natural beauty of Savonlinna was on full display, and staying at B&B Lomamokkila allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in this beautiful region.”
“The sauna by the lake was great. We enjoyed a lovely swim off the jetty.
The buffet breakfast was great.
The owners were so helpful and looked after us well.
The kitchen was great as we cooked couple of our evening meals there. It had a big fridge where we stored our food.”
“only a short walk from bus station and supermarket, great accomodation, such helpful and friendly hosts, felt like home. Thanks Marika and Janne! Kiitos ja nähdään taas uudelleen!”
“This was the first place we stayed in Finland and it was a really lovely introduction to the country.
It's essentially a very small holiday complex on farmland surrounded by birch forest and with a lake (and rowing boats) 15 minutes' walk away from the main house. There are two blocks of four en-suite rooms set slightly away from the farmhouse - each block with its own well equipped kitchen and seating/dining area. We were there in mid-May and were the only guests. You can also stay in the main house itself and I think there's also a cottage on the lake shore.
It's about a 13 minute drive away from Savonlinna and it's about 7 minutes to the nearest big supermarket - so easy enough to get about if you have a car (not sure about public transport) but feels very rural and away from it all while you're there. Breakfast is served in the main farmhouse and is amazing. Laura, the host, does a lot of cooking and baking and it's a great opportunity to try some traditional Finnish food done well. It's a buffet with a good choice of cereals, fruit, bread, meat, fish, cheese etc plus home baked cakes. You won't go hungry.
Sadly, we were there too early in the season to try out Laura's dinners so we just cooked for ourselves. Dining options are fairly limited around there although that may well be different in, say, July. We were happy to just make our own meals anyway.
the bedrooms are well laid out with comfortable beds and a good shower. Everything is clean and cozy.
One of the things we particularly liked about our stay was how helpful and friendly our hosts were. It was really interesting to talk to Laura and Kalle, her husband, about Finnish life and current affairs. They also helped us make some bookings and gave suggestions for hikes etc.
I would really recommend this place as somewhere to stay for a few days.”
