Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaOur view was to the boulevard, so it was a bit noisy during the night.
This is a historical place and you feel this vibe the moment you enter the hotel.

United KingdomAtmosphere in the breakfast room(s) could be improved.
Great location right by the old town. And the hotel has a lovely atmosphere, feels quite grand and traditional. Staff spoke good English and there was a lot of choice of things for breakfast, including good coffee. Reception is always staffed, so no complicated instructions to get in with codes and lockboxes and also someone to help us e.g. calling a taxi for us.

United KingdomWhile the hotel had some positive aspects, such as a clean room and a central location, there were a few disappointing aspects to note. Unfortunately, we experienced a less-than-ideal situation when we arrived two minutes late for breakfast and were refused entry. While we understand the importance of adhering to breakfast times, it would have been appreciated if the staff could have offered a small alternative option. Additionally, the subsequent breakfasts were subpar, with poor-quality bread, cold and hard fried eggs, and a lack of options for those with dietary restrictions, such as no oat muesli or dairy-free milk available. Furthermore, we encountered an issue with the bed sheet being too small for the bed, which revealed the mattress protector, impacting the overall comfort of our stay.
The breakfast spread included fresh fruit and salads which was a great way to start the day. The room was clean, and I appreciated that the towels were changed daily. The central location made it easy to explore the area. Additionally, having a kettle and tea provided in the room was a nice touch that added to the overall comfort of our stay.

Hotel Carol exceeded my expectations in every way! Nestled in a quaint, historic building, this charming 3-story hotel perfectly captures the essence of Constanta. From my balcony on the third floor, I enjoyed breathtaking views of the Black Sea, just a leisurely 10-minute walk away. Stepping into my classic-styled room, I was immediately struck by its spaciousness and comfort. It felt like a home away from home, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. Each morning, I indulged in the excellent breakfast spread served in the inviting dining area. The variety of options ensured there was something to satisfy every palate. Moreover, the reception staff were always warm, welcoming, and eager to assist with any inquiries or requests. Their hospitality truly enhanced my stay and made me feel well taken care of throughout my time at Hotel Carol. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better accommodation in Constanta. Hotel Carol perfectly combines comfort, convenience, and hospitality, making it the ideal choice for any traveler seeking a memorable stay by the Black Sea.

AustriaThis is not a minus, but since my stay was in winter, I was hoping to find extra blankets as well as I tend to get cold. My concern was useless, since the room, while it has a high ceiling, was very well heated.
The staff is super friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean and has a pleasant aesthetic - very instagramable. My room was spacious, I enjoyed the vintage vibe and the phone was an especially nice touch. I forgot to take some toiletries, but fortunately, I found everything I needed in the bathroom. There were also slippers and bathrobe in the closet. Of the amenities, I especially appreciated how clean and well-heated the bathroom was. The breakfast was delicious, with great variety, rotating menus, sometimes local specialities - I felt right at home when I tasted our traditional aubergine salad (it's like baba ganoush but with mayo). The location is great. It is close to the sea and to the city centre, where you can find some great restaurants. Plus, there is a pharmacy and a mini market nearby. Train station is a few minutes ride by taxi (ask the hotel for a reliable one though or take Uber so you don't risk getting scammed. Thank you Hotel Carol team, will be sure to book again if and when in Constanta!

United StatesThe hotel is a very pleasant B & B, with excellent wifi and a good breakfast. But what makes it stand out is the quality of its staff. I was allowed to check in early, was able to leave my bags in the receptionist's office after checking out, and - crucially - found a bus to Bulgaria with the receptionist's help. Fantastic service all around.
