Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaThe salty bath. Now, that was a challenge. No indication for temperature, or time you're supposed to take it, very warm, small enclosure, only one working massage thingy, that you can barely feel - and they charge you for that. Not a great amount (around 4 Eur), but still. They could at lest open the door to the terrace, and put a water fountain close by. The way is managed right now - not so enjoyable.
To start with the good things: the staff was amazing. Everyone was well-spoken, polite, and keen to solve whatever your need or problem was. Not so professional though (at dinner, they were busy making up the breakfast tables, and we just had to stack our used plates and silverware, not one of them bothered to clear our table :) The view from the room was magnificent, the balcony large enough, fridge, bathrobes, slippers all in good order. The meals were fun, meaning that they don't really seem to know how chafing dishes work (You need a heat source under them!), no labels, not so many choices...but the food was actually good. As in really good. So, not much complaints there. I was a bit saddened by the fact that at breakfast they didn't have any black tea, just the foo-foo fruity things - but I got over that.

Romania- Hotel had a bit of an old look. - They "sell" rooms with SPA access but in fact you have access only to swimming pool. There is also a separate swimming pool with salt water that requires extra payment. - I didn't know before booking that program to SPA is only 14:00-20:00
Mattress from the junior suite was very good (firm). The suite overall was big enough for few days -Water from the swimming pool (semiolimpic size) was warmer then usual. It was ok for swimming (a bit to warm that is true) but also very good for companions that do not really swim, more like chilling in the watter. Personal was also polite/nice

RomaniaVery poor breakfast. Old pillows and curtains within the room. Very small and old furnished bathroom. In three days the room was never cleaned.
Perfect location, in the heart of everything. Pool and spa. Nice massage service with extra cost (but not expensive). Big free parking area. Kind and helpful staff.

RomaniaThe soundproofing must be better. The mattress was too soft and weak.
The breakfast & dinner were tasty and plentiful. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool, also. Good view from balcony. The staff is nice, giving all that you need.

United KingdomThe hotel does not have security at night/ does not have policies to deal with troublesome guess or the staff is not appropriately trained for this. There were some guests having a huge shouting argument with females and kids crying in the room next to mine. The girl at reception did not know what to do and suggested waiting for the people to stop or that i went and spoke to them. She completely failed to understand the severity of the situation and how unsafe it all was. She ended up going and knocking on the door and asking them to stop while in the background a lady was shouting for the police to be called. The police was not called in the end which is a huge disappointment given it only suggests that the hotel tolerates abusive situations on premises and does not have the means to protect vulnerable guests. They also don't seem to to care for the comfort of the other guests who were very clearly distressed at the sound of the entire situation. It was uncomfortable and disappointing.
Alright venue for ok prices. You get what you pay for. The spa area with the pools could do with a revamp but they were nice enough and not too busy.

FranceThe first room they gave us was smelly and dirty. The air conditioner didn't work at all and fridge called cooler also didn't work. Old furniture maybe back from when the hotel was constructed for the first time. The lady at the reception desk told us "but its working" when we told her that the AC and the cooler weren't working. After many complains they changed our room. The AC was fine, the cooler was working from time to time and we had a view it was better. Water was stopping regularly we couldn't use the bathroom. Not a lot of ports for connecting electronic devices, in the elevator it was dark, I guess they didn't need to fix it or maybe didn't cared about it. The parking was a disaster, lets just say you need a 4x4 vehicle, rocks and everything they haven't heard of asphalt? The breakfast was OK I guess but nothing special, and plates sometimes dirty. Talk about a 3 stars hotel I would have given it half a star, the price was too big for what they offered.
Nice view, the swimming pool

NetherlandsThe green lights that are displayed in a moving pattern over the hotel all night that you can’t block out. I had a queesy stomach after diner at the hotel. The jacuzzi was not working and use of the hotel gym (that we saw in the hotel photos but we couldn’t actually find) is not included. Expensive compared to other places we stayed in in Transylvania.
The view from the balcony. The small pastries at breakfast. The size of the swimming pool.

United StatesWe did not like that many other nice villas, hotels and houses were left unmaintained, abandoned and in ruin. The city leadership and the mayor does not seem to do their job to keep up this town in order to encourage tourism. The surroundings are beautiful but the city is the worst taken care of that I've seen in Romania, and that's a shame. Also, the laws should be modified to contain the bears and prevent them to take over the city and to chase the tourists away.
We loved the location and the view from our balcony was breath-taking. The staff was extra-nice and helpful, the room was clean and we had warm water at any time during day or night. The TV in the room had many channels, and the room had even AC that was very silent and efficient (as it was very hot outside). The food was excellent too. Very satisfied of our staying at Ciucas hotel, probably the best hotel in town.
