It may be only me, but I can only sleep on square pillows. Maybe additional square pillows would be nice.

We needed an overnight stop in Tulcea before continuing onto Sfantu Gheorghe the next morning and this newish hotel just fitted the bill being only five minutes from the train station by taxi. The rooms were wonderfully comfortable and the hotel staff most helpful and hospitable.

The hotel is placed in a rather unhappy neighbourhood. Mattresses are good but a litle bit to narrow if you are over 170cm tall. Parking place is dusty.

The seventh flour restaurant has a nice litle view to Danube and some parts of the city.Brekfast is ok. The restaurant also has a good chef so the food is tasty.

The air conditioning unit beeped several times in the night!

First the location. It is laying a few 100 meters in land, in the midst of Tulcea, situated next to some typical concrete building typical for the former SR Romania. Lots of (rather loud) hang out youth. In general the immediate area around the hotel was not very inviting people wise. In the street. Also, our GPS positioned the hotel in a different place (500 meters) down the road it is supposed to be situated on. That road, Strada Progresului, is where the back of the hotel is situated. The back of the hotel has no number or sign saying it is the Condor hotel. The front of the hotel is in Strada Victoriei. Very strange!….The receptionist mentioned we were not the first ones who could not find it (it took us half an hour cruising the area……not helped that she mentioned that it was at the start of Strada Progresului where the building has no markings. Another disappointment was that we had booked a luxurious suite with a balkony with River view. Hmmmmm…..the room was on the third floor, facing the reverse side of the river, with a tiny side balcony where you may be able to see some water 500 meters from the hotel with lots of the concrete jungle in front blocking the view. We asked for a different room (which was cheaper and much nicer!)

The room was very comfortable with a nice balcony overseeing the Danube River. The breakfast restaurant on top is very good. Not a typical buffet but you can order ‘for free’. It is well-served, friendly served and very tasty.

Everything was perfect.

We have an excelent stay at hotel Condor in Tulcea for 4 nights. Starting with the check in, the receptionist was very friendly. The location was great as it was only a few steps to the promenade, the room was a good size, spotless, high quality shampoo and shower gel, very comfortable bed, good quality bed linen, high quality towels. The breakfast was amazing, everything fresh, the pattiserie was hot straight from the oven. The service was excellent, the waiters very friendly, Laurentiu and Ionut were very attentive and very professional. The view from the restaurant terrase at 7 floor was amazing over the Danube.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Reception staff were super helpful and the General Manager (I believe his name was Laur) went out of his we to help us both in the hotel and even walked us to the boat docks and made sure we got the correct boat out/back for our excursions...The world could use a lot more Laur's ;)
