Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMaybe some more hangers for the wardrobe but that's it really.
Property is located in a period property at the end of one of the best streets in the Old Town, with shops, restaurants and bars close by. Despite this, noise was not an issue. Balcony overlooking the street was large and it was brilliant enjoying a beer and watching the world go by. Can recommend the ice cream place directly below and the pasta place next door is good for a quick bite. The room itself wasn't huge but was beautifully decorated and seemed to have very new furnishings with little or no wear and tear. The room has a fridge and coffee machine and the bathroom is in keeping with the rest of the room - modern & clean. Shower has good water pressure which is always a bonus! Excellent comms from management - any queries we had were answered within minutes.

United StatesThere is no elevator so you have to drag your luggage up a lot of stairs; outlet in bathroom didn't work.
The location was excellent. Close to everything without being too close.

MaltaWould have been nice if we could have left our bags somewhere upon checkout. I’d messaged earlier that morning on the WhatsApp but never got a reply. Ended up having to carry our bags around for a few hours. Also as much as we didn’t get the upgrade to get a room clean (which wasn’t needed), more toilet paper would have been great.
Location is amazing, right in the centre of the old town. Also super convenient for getting Uber. Loved the balcony.

United KingdomThe location was one of the reasons for choosing this accommodation but the accommodation was beautiful. The interior design made it feel like a home and not a hotel. It had a lovely view from the balcony and so accessible to all the sites we wanted to see.

United KingdomI would have liked a sofa in the room rather than 2 chairs and a bath too, but overall it was very pleasant.
The decor is really tasteful, and the bed is super comfortable! The balcony is nice in summer, but we didn't use it in winter.

United KingdomThe Property was very cosy and luxurious, the location good, a few steps away from the old town . The only problem with this location is the noise, starting with the people that come and go outside of the building and the windows aren’t soundproof, you can hear everyone from outside and how they are partying.

CyprusBiggest problem is with an electric lock on the entrance to the Hotel. Sometimes we needed 15 minutes to enter the hotel. It's not always possible to get through to staff. Difficult to stay for more than 4 days. Room cleaning, change of towels not provided during the stay. But you also don’t have opportunity to clear room or wash towels by yourself. As in the apartments.
Location. Clean and beautiful room. Gifts in a fridge.

TurkeyThere was honestly nothing we did not like.
The suite is located in the heart of Old Town. Holt Team and Petru was very helpful and supportive all the time. They helped us for an early check-in by prioritizing the cleaning of the suite. The suite was very clean and nicely decorated. The guide they provided was very helpful. Boarding Pass link they provided made the check-in and check-out process really easy for us. If you are planning a visit to Bucharest we definitely recommend the property. Definitely gonna choose to stay at Holt Properties again. Highly recommended.

LebanonSo many forms: because there is no staff on sight, the Romanian government considers this a short-stay rental and we therefore had to fill in a few forms (liability + complementary insurance). They're tedious and unpleasant (although it takes less than 10 minutes to fill them all), but nothing they can't do against it given their business model. Security: there was no deadbolt on the room door, so I moved a small piece of furniture in front of it every night. Mind you, the place is well very covered with security cameras (outside the front door, on each floors, in the staircase, etc.), but I was still uncomfortable without having full control over my own door - cameras don't stop intruders. The area around the hotel feels relatively safe, just like in any capital cities, and there were not loiterers waiting for us to open the main door, so this lack of deadbolt is really our personal preference. Accessibility/mobility: there is no elevator. There is a first step to get inside the front door and then immediately stairs to reach the first set of rooms. We had no issues, but anyone with low mobility or who cannot lift their suitcase up a few flights of stairs should reconsider booking this hotel.
Location: one of my selection criteria for a hotel is always the location and Holt Old Town exceeded our expectations on that end. There is a bus stop and metro station a minute away, which made it very practical to get around Bucharest, coffee and pastry shops are near the hotel (a gelateria in the same building!), tons of restaurants and bars within a 10-min walk radius, and yet, it's fairly quiet at night. Room: there is no doubt that the owners put a lot of thoughts in the decor. The bed, although a bit too soft for our tastes, is large, there was a cute sitting area and two desks to empty our pockets at night, the armoire is roomy, and there's a fridge! From the colour accents to the various fabrics, we felt like we were getting pampered with our eyes and sense of touch. Customer service: they are easy to reach on WhatsApp and they answered any and all our questions in a timely manner. Quiet: we stayed for a week, and from Sunday to Thursday, we had very quiet nights despite the hotel being next to many restaurants and bars. Friday night was fairly noisy though, but nothing that a pair of earplugs can't silence. Cleanliness: 10/10. There was not a spec of dust in sight. We had no issues with our PIN code to access the building and our room, even though we read reviews of people struggling with them. We had a neighbouring client who had difficulties with her; honestly, I think the problem is a human one rather than technical.
