How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location was just a few hundred meters from the railway station.

I was not expected. When I showed my booking on my laptop it appeared to be new to the person in charge. She said the price displaced was far too low. On entering the bedroom there was a smell from the bathroom. It seemed to be coming from the drain in the centre of the bathroom. There was no toilet paper. The link between the hose and the shower head was faulty. The water spouted all over the floor of the bathroom. It was an open shower. The floor remained wet into the night. The wifi was very very unsatisfactory.
The bed was comfortable. Location was across the street from the train station.

very dirty, in the first night a pipe broke and was water everywhere in the bathroom the receptionist didn’t want to give us another room until we didn’t start and argument

Think the patients from hospital opposite use this hotel there was that medical smell and could hear sickly people coughing.
Basis cheap place for a stop over. Nice to have park on site to take the dog for a walk.

The fact that i have booked a room online and the minute i got there they give it to someone else. And the answer was they thought it was me. As long as when you book a room you leave a name wich you can check it with an ID. The conditions are very poor, but for the prices that they have you can understand

Nothing, the room wasn't clean at my arrival, there was no heating, and when I asked at the "receptionist" wich is by the way situated in the bar area, she told she doesn't have clearance to start the plant.... During my stay I haven't seen nobody cleaning my room, the bathroom had a defect shower, the corridor wasn't properly illuminated during the night, I had only one towel during my stay, no toiletries in the bathroom, very disappointing.

Appertment smells a little bit sewer . Beds although not very bad making noise when moving. Shower was leaking
Staff friendly. Although she couldn't speak in english or german , she tried to communicate .

The employee at first told as she doesn't have room and she don't understand us and we wait outside in the rain for 1 hour after we drive for about an hour with our motorcycles in the rain.... I try to call the owner and he didn't understand English too so we wait to see.... we choose this accommodation because it's across the police and the train station so we can keep our bikes safe.... after an hour the employee came out and told as she have a room but 50ron more than the booking price so I show her my phone with the booking price and she was disappointed.... the room.... have several bugs... NO HEAT AND NO HOT WATER.... yes we choose it because it was cheap but mostly because it was across the police station

I received confirmation from booking and where I get there at the hour I’ve said, the staff told me that is full and doesn’t care that I have rezervation from booking. She not even want to check my rezervation! So if you want to sleep in the streets, then is a good choice!

The staff didn't speak English, we hardly understood each other. I couldn't pay by card or by euros in cash and i had to go to ATM first so I can get lei. They took more money than what was said on my reservation. The place is noisy because the train station is right infront and there are trains passing by or stopping during the night, so I couldn't get much sleep or rest. The room wasn't that bad but still was quite dirty. The wifi didn't work. I wouldn't stay at this place again.
