Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe hotel itself was shoddy, the rooms are smaller than one would expect for an Executive Suite. The room smelled terribly of mould. I'm not confident that the fire safety procedures were up to standard either. I booked this accommodation for one of our nights in Bucharest, hoping that the Executive Suite would be a little taste of luxury for myself and my partner. What we were met with was - stale, old furniture - A stench of mould - a glass on the balcony half filled with cigarette butts - Coving of the rooms made of styrofoam - paper-thin walls and doors, which left us feeling very unsafe - A broken fridge - Wifi that was slower than my 3G data - no coffee and an open teabag - a singular pillow each on a very sad bed, with no additional supplied - The bathroom sink had worn out caulk, and so was merely balancing on the countertop and wobbled when the water was run We decided after a very brief discussion that we wouldn't be staying, even just for peace of mind with regard to fire safety and security standards. We picked up our bags and booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1 minute walk down the road.
The location of this hotel is decent. The architecture of the actual building is quite beautiful, that's pretty much where the positives stop.

SwedenThe shower was clogged and was flooding the bathroom and the water took 5-10 minutes to get hot, making it close to impossible to take a shower. There was a closed space smell across the room and most importantly, there was a party in the same building as the hotel that you could hear from the room that went on until 2AM in the morning.
It is centrally located, but that meant all the noise that comes with it. The room was spacious and the staff was welcoming.

United KingdomThe first room we were given stank of mouldy drains. The second room had a broken television. The third room was so cold and had a broken air con so we had to get a fan heater and leave it on all night to try to stay warm. The water was lukewarm so we couldn’t even warm up with s hot shower in the morning. It ruined our valentines night. The one member of staff tried to help but he was flogging a dead horse because clearly the proprietor of this place refuses to spend any money on maintaining it to even the most basic standard.

RussiaOne of the worst places I have ever stayed! Do not believe their rating! The room had strong smell of old building, no sound isolation whatsoever, we couldn’t sleep because of street sounds plus had cold air coming from window. Room didn’t have any toiletries, slippers, floor towel. Also saw one small cockroach but who knows how many more are there… and it’s for 78 euro without breakfast…
Location is okay

MaltaThe room was old and with a terrible stench of drainage and old pipes.. we had to sleep with our windows open (in winter) because otherwise we couldn’t breathe in the room.
The hotel is exactly in the center and has a nice looking building from outside and vintage style on inside. Friendly staff.

LatviaI HAD TO ABANDON hotel With NO REFUND and book Hilton hotel , the real 4* across the street for 2 nights! That's how bad it was! ( I booked for 3 nights initially) Receptionist Behavior of poor 1-3* hotel in a nice building, that's their catch. (Me too I fell for the artistic historical design + location) . Its not real 4 *hotel as you would expect! Same as facilities. It's not even a hotel building that you see at the picture. The front of this building is a lux restaurant. And the hotel had an entrance on the side, massive doors and I couldn't find the entrance right away. It's on a first floor up the stairs or old elevator. The hotel it self is 1 floor with a bunch of rooms. Why I left? When I checked in ,in a non smoking hotel. The room, was a few steps from reception desk. The room had a strong cigarette smell. Like gas camera. And I'm allergic to this smell. They were swearing its not smoking hotel and they can't control their guests and punish them.( learn from Hilton or other even 2, 3* hotels how they control smoking guests !). So i opened the window and found bunch in cigarettes. Wandering who wasnt not smoking there and not cleaning rooms? I asked to move me from this horror. There was no rooms available as they said. So I said ok I pay extra and upgrade. Give me other room! They showed me other 2 rooms. 1 was so bad and seems receptionists are living there too. The other room I paid extra was spacious. And had a slidely less smell of cigarettes. So I thought if I open windows all will be fine after some hours. Well no it didn't. I was dying there all night. Well downstairs is a bar and as well I guess someone was living next door or it was coming from the bar. This room turned into a gas camera. I couldn't breathe. ( when I left hotel receptionist that knew English tried to tell me that this hotel is non smoking one and I'm a crazy person.
I give 3 stars for this: Loved the location, literal center. Loved original building "historical ceiling art" Loved the corridor and the restaurant in that building. Loved the front of the building itself. Size of the rooms, big. They knew a few words in english. Historical type of design very beautiful as in museum.

United StatesLots of noise. We were “upgraded” for one night when we got there and made to change rooms the very next morning. Additionally I lost a personal item, which I didn’t take notice of until three days later since we’ve been moving around quite a lot during our trip. I called the hotel to see if they had it and they said to call back in the morning. I called in the day time and the same person picked up and informed me that my item was found but because I didn’t call back in “24 hours” they threw it to the trash.

Czech RepublicThe downside of the location is the noise - you can still hear a distict bassline of a music from somewhere near around midnight and I kept being woken up throughout the night by loud people roaming the streets even at 4am. The windows are old and don't insulate the noise. My room was spacious, with very high ceiling but the whole interior feels outdated, dusty with occasional stains on chairs, carpets etc. Reception is a tiny desk on the 1st floor - which is quite confusing when you enter the building and there are no signs that you're in the right place.
The hotel is in a very central location, right in the historical center of the city. Many nice places to eat / have a drink around.

AustraliaWe got 2 rooms One the balcony door would not close and you had to plug the air-conditioning into a wall plug all the way across the room, the other the fridge did not work and the bathroom developed a VERY bad sewage smell during the night, it became almost unusable. We talk to to staff and we were given excuses for most of the problems, but the sewage smell they did apologize for

United StatesThe towels were well worn. There was no door or curtain for the shower and water leaked under the side wall causing the bathroom floor to get all wet next to the toilet. The pillows were very thin and unsupportive for our heads.
I liked being in Old Town. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We requested a room change since the carpet in our initial room was all wet from "cleaning up some spilled coffee." The AC worked well.
